PHP - Adding A Database To An Existing Php Test Site
Hello and good day to all of you
I have passed my midterms project(Online Shopping) with a score of 94 in PHP ( Click here to see file ) ( Sorry if the design is too ugly, I'm just new in programming XD ) Now our finals project will be a PHP site again but now with a database in it.. So instead of making a new project/design for a site, why not just add a database to my existing midterms? I would like to ask for some help here in helping me on connecting to the database, adding a database/tables and anything that would be of help like suggesting Databases would be like, - Users ( Admin and Members ) - Upper Clothing ( Shirts, Jackets, Long Sleeves, Raglan and etc ) - Lower Clothing ( Pants, Shorts, Boxers and etc ) - Stock on a current item - Single member's Transaction History - All user's Transaction History Is there a way that I could add those database named above to my project? Thank you in advance! Similar TutorialsHello, Having trouble inserting plain text to the output of this php. Is this something which is easily done? Currently, I'm using UserCake:

How much testing and QA is necessary for this type of work?
Hello! I found this code from github. https://github.com/gburtini/Learning-Library-for-PHP and I want to know if its possible to add variables to it and what changes needed to be done to the whole script. $xs and $ys I want replace them and add two more. The whole code is he <?php require_once 'function.php'; function ll_nn_predict($xs, $ys, $row, $k) { $distances = ll_nearestNeighbors($xs, $row); $distances = array_slice($distances, 0, $k); $predictions = array(); foreach($distances as $neighbor=>$distance) { $predictions[$ys[$neighbor]]++; } asort($predictions); return $predictions; } function ll_nearestNeighbors($xs, $row) { $testPoint = $xs[$row]; $distances = _ll_distances_to_point($xs, $testPoint); return $distances; } function _ll_distances_to_point($xs, $x) { $distances = array(); foreach($xs as $index=>$xi) { $distances[$index] = ll_euclidean_distance($xi, $x); } asort($distances); array_shift($distances); return $distances; } and the function.php that is required is this: <?php function ll_transpose($rows) { $columns = array(); for($i=0;$i<count($rows);$i++) { for($k = 0; $k<count($rows[$i]); $k++) { $columns[$k][$i] = $rows[$i][$k]; } } return $columns; } function ll_mean($array) { return array_sum($array)/($array); } function ll_variance($array) { $mean = ll_mean($array); $sum_difference = 0; $n = count($array); for($i=0; $i<$n; $i++) { $sum_difference += pow(($array[$i] - $mean),2); } $variance = $sum_difference / $n; return $variance; } function ll_euclidean_distance($a, $b) { if(count($a) != count($b)) return false; $distance = 0; for($i=0;$i<count($a);$i++) { $distance += pow($a[$i] - $b[$i], 2); } return sqrt($distance); } I just want to know where is the variables in those 2 scripts and add more as I'm not well versed in using PHP. Thank you! Im not much of a coder, and I obviously did this wrong since it is not working. Im trying to bring a new field value in to an existing php file. I created a new table, and an admin page to control that field. I cant, however, figure out how to use that value in a different php file. Actually, there are 2 files. Each using a different field from that new table. I will post what my current code is below with the additions I tried to add. I bolded the lines that contain the tags Im trying to use. Any and help you can give in fixing this to make it work is greatly appreciated. Hi there, I've been trying to implement pagination to an existing script that displays products, but at present only displays next and back buttons. The number of products is now increasing and we would like to show the number of pages of results but the tutorials I've been going through seem to use a very different way of displaying the results to the script we currently have. Im now looking to add a image uplad field the the same form. I have tried several methods off the internet but i cant get any to work. I would like the form to upload the image into the directory '../images' and then save the path to the file in the database, e.g. 'images/picture.jpg'. Can anyone point me in the right direction please. Im guessing i will have to use the file input type but i cant get any of it to work. Thanks Hey y'all. Hopefully quick question on something I've not come across before.
I am doing a quick and dirty update on an existing site that is using the mysql_* functions to use PDO, and I'm wondering how much of a corollary there is between the mysq_real_escape_string() function and PDO::quote() method. We had a sanitization method that returned the submitted string after running mysql_real_escape_string() on it, and I've updated it to return the string after passing it through quote(). What I'm noticing in phpMyAdmin, though, is that new records inserted using the quote() sanitize don't encode quotes or add slashes or evidence any of the things that apparently mysql_real_escape_string() used to do (I always used a different scrub method in the past so I'm really not familiar with how it works under the hood).
Is using quote() going to offer an equivalent level of protection against injection?
Hopefully I'll get the go-ahead to take the time and revamp all the queries to use prepared statements, but right now that's not in the cards. At least the old site did abstract database interaction so I'm not chasing mysql_* functions all over the site...
Any opinions and thoughts are very much welcome and thanks in advance!

I run a hockey league and have a database that keeps our stats. Regular stats page is here - http://okchockey.com/stats/stats.php I need a web form that can update existing records in the database. Maybe I am going thru this the wrong way - please let me know. I know there's a better way than my current version. Basically I have a table that has fields of Week, Jersey, Name, Goals, Assists, Points, and Penatly_Min. Again - excuse the newbie-ness - what I did is have a record for each player for each week. I already pre-created a record for each player for each week. I just need a web form that will update these existing records. I already created one that can add new records but I am having a tough time creating one to update existing ones. I'd like to be able to select the week (week 1-10) then select a player and update his stats for that particular week. Hopefully this makes sense. If anyone has some sample code I can look at I'd sure appreciate it. Really struggling trying to teach myself PHP hi again, after I clicked a particular data to edit, it will bring me to a html which i created, UpdateRecordForm.html In there, how do i retrieve the data from database so it will show the data in the textbox that i can edit it. Code: [Select] <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" /> <title>adding a new data record</title> </head> <body> <form id="form1" name="form1" method="post" action="processUpdateRecord.php"> <p> <label>Student Number: <input name="StudentNumber" type="text" id="StudentNumber" size="10" /> </label> </p> <p> <label>First Name: <input name="FirstName" type="text" id="FirstName" size="20" /> </label> </p> <p> <label>Last Name: <input name="LastName" type="text" id="LastName" size="20" /> </label> </p> <p> <label>Email Address: <input name="EmailAddr" type="text" id="EmailAddr" size="50" /> </label> </p> <p> <label>Telephone: <input name="PhoneNumber" type="text" id="PhoneNumber" size="20" /> </label> </p> <p> <input type="submit" name="submit" id="submit" value="Update Record" /> </p> </form> </body> </html> I am a complete newbie. I have installed xampp. I created a database and the tables but that is all. I need to create all my relationships and test my database. to do this, do I now need to write the php code to view the results in a browser or... do I do it in MySQL. If so, Can someone just point me in the direction I need to go for my next step.
Thanks
This topic has been moved to Microsoft SQL - MSSQL. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=319147.0 I currently have a MyBB forum and I'm going to attempt to create a top list for it, but I'd like users that have already registered on my forum to be able to log into the top list area and either add or edit their website on the top list. How would I go about creating a login script with an already existing MySQL database that contains my MyBB users? This topic has been moved to Miscellaneous. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=323879.0 Hi I have a custom built website with 40 pages or so that I am working on. Its all PHP based. However it is not on a CMS, it was a static HTML site converted into php with a bunch of include files etc now. I am keen to add a search facility, however I have no idea how to go about this. I know there are 3rd party paid offerings from Google, but I was wondering if anyone can advise me if its easy to setup without having to pay a 3rd party? Any advice is greatly appreciated. Hey everyone, im building a simple php portfolio website (header , index, footer) I have 3 pages , about , contact, portfolio If I add an image to the index page then click on my about page (no images) the whole site shifts to the right about 20px. If I remove the image and click the link everything is okay. Anyone know what im doing wrong? Code below: header Code: [Select] <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head> <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=UTF-8" /> <link rel="stylesheet" href="style/style.css" type="text/css" media="screen" /> </head> <body> <div id="wrapper"> <div id="header"> <ul> <li><h2><a href="portfolio.php">PORTFOLIO</a></h2></li> <li><h2><a href="about.php">ABOUT</a></h2></li> <li><h2><a href="contact.php">WHAT WE CAN DO TOGETHER</a></h2></li> </ul> </div> index Code: [Select] <?php include 'header.php'; ?> <div id="idea_container"> <a href="portfolio.php"><img src="images/logo.jpg" width="960" height="500" /></a> </div> <?php include 'footer.php'; ?> footer Code: [Select] <div id="footer" class="footer"> <ul> <li><a href="#">TWITTER</a></li> <li><a href="contact.php">CONTACT</a></li> <li><a href="index.php">HOME</a></li> </ul> </div> </div> <!--ending div for wrapper --> </body> </html> Hey im trying to come up with a simple script that shows the databases in my localhost then create a insert box with a "submit button" and when i type in any name lets just say test1234 it should show up in the list and i want it to show the results below such as you successfully added a database. I have started this not too long ago but i've had experience with previous database adding and i just threw it in there to get me started. Here is my code as of now. By the way I am using PHP my admin and i have it so it creates it to the list but it does it automatically but i want it to add it by me typing it in the text box and when i hit the submit button it shows up in the list and below as well. Code: [Select] <? $connection = @mysql_connect("localhost", "root", "") or die(mysql_error());; $dbs = @mysql_list_dbs($connection)or die(mysql_error()); $db_list="<ul>"; $i =0; while ($i < mysql_num_rows($dbs)){ $db_names[$i] = mysql_tablename($dbs,$i); $db_list .="<li>$db_names[$i]"; $i++; } $db_list .="</ul>"; ?> <HTML> <HEAD> <TITLE>MySQL Databases</TITLE> </HEAD> <P><strong>Databases on localhost</strong>:</p> <? echo "$db_list"; ?> </BODY> </HTML> <HTML> <HEAD> <TITLE>Adding a Database to MySQL</TITLE> </HEAD> <BODY><H3> <FORM METHOD="post" ACTION="pretask.php"> <P>Database Name <INPUT TYPE="text" NAME="val1" SIZE=10></P> <P><INPUT TYPE="submit" NAME="submit" VALUE="Add database"></P> </FORM> </BODY></H3> </HTML> </font> <? $connection = @mysql_connect("localhost", "root", "") or die(mysql_error()); if ($connection) { $msg = "YES!"; } $sql = "CREATE DATABASE my_music "; $result = @mysql_query($sql,$connection) or die(mysql_error()) ?> <HTML> <BODY> <h1><center><? echo "$msg"; ?></h1></center> </BODY> </HTML> |
