PHP - Using A Template In Different Directories.
So I have a simple template that I want to be the index page of the website that I'm working on, however, I don't want to have to create several almost identical files for each of the directories.
Is there perhaps anyway that I can change the content of the main div yet the address be a different directory.
So for example, this is the main index page:
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/loose.dtd"> <head> <title>Matthew Noskiw's website - Home</title> <link rel='stylesheet' type='text/css' href='./inc/CSS/styles/default.css' /> <link rel='stylesheet' type='text/css' href='./inc/CSS/static/navigation.css' /> </head> <body> <div id='Container'> <div id='Header'> <div class='right'> <ul id='Navigation'> <li id='NavButton' class='active'><a href='./'>Home</a></li> <li id='NavButton'><a href='./about'>About</a></li> <li id='NavButton'><a href='./blog'>Blog</a></li> <li id='NavButton'><a href='./contact'>Contact</a></li> </ul> </div> <span>noskiw.co.uk</span> </div> <hr /> <div id='MainContent'> <h2>Home</h2> <br /> <span> Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipisicing elit, sed do eiusmod tempor incididunt ut labore et dolore magna aliqua. </span> </div> <hr /> <div id='Footer'> <span>Matthew Noskiw</span> </div> </div> </body> </html>But if you look in the <h2> tag in the 'MainContent' div, then you'll see it reads "Home". What I want to happen is that when I change the page, for example, go to /about I want it to read <h2>About</h2>. I have 4 different pages for this so far, is there any way to get it down to just one yet they be in different directories? P.S The reason this is in the PHP Help section is because I assumed that it would more than likely be something to do with PHP. Edited by ghostrider1337, 02 August 2014 - 02:36 PM. Similar TutorialsHey guys does anyone know of a good dynamic directory solution? What i mean by this is when i am creating an application and i use require_once 'includes/config.php'; and then i create a class that needs the config file so i include it into the class like so: require_once '../include/config.php'; then i make a new folder named member then i have to require this class (created above) and it fails to find the directory. What would be a good solution for this? Thanks guys!! I am using the following code: Code: [Select] <?php $target = "images/"; $target = $target . basename( $_FILES['uploaded']['name']) ; $ok=1; if(move_uploaded_file($_FILES['uploaded']['tmp_name'], $target)) { echo "The file ". basename( $_FILES['uploadedfile']['name']). " has been uploaded"; } else { echo "Sorry, there was a problem uploading your file."; } ?> I am using this to upload photos to the directory called 'images'. How could I change this code so that I can choose an existing directory to upload it to and also create a new directory to upload it to if I wanted? I have written a piece of code that create a directories, files on the server using mkdir and touch and also inserts the form data into the table.. the code gets executed and the info gets stored in the database but the part which has the create directories. and files dont work as it doesnt create the directory and files on the server.. do i need to make changes to the php.ini file to enable the mkdir and touch feature to get enabled? as i said the code executes without any error.. I dont know wat to do.. please any help would be appreciated!! thanku Hello everyone, This is a fairly simple question, but the explanation of the question isn't... I'll do my best. I have a site where my folders/sub-folders/files are arranged similar to this: _ Root Folder -| Root-IncludeFile1.php | Root-IncludeFile2.php | _ | Sub-Folder 1 -| Sub1-File1.php | |_Sub1-File2.php | _ | Sub-Folder 2 -| Sub2-File1.php | |_Sub2-File2.php | _ |_Sub-Folder 3 -| Sub3-IncludeFile1.php |_Sub3-IncludeFile2.php Hopefully that makes sense to everyone. Anyway, I know that to include a file that is in the root folder in file in a sub-folder, I can do this - include("../includefile1.php"); -but I'm trying to include a file that is in a sub folder in a file that is in another sub-folder. For example, I'm trying to include "Sub3-IncludeFile1.php" in "Sub-File1.php" I'm lost on this because I can't get it to work. I'm not getting any error messages except to say that the variables located in the file that should be included are not found. I've tried to do this: include("http://www.mysite.com/Sub-Folder3/Sub3-IncludeFile1.php"); and it doesn't work. Can someone please point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance for your help. i need to convert the following path Code: [Select] $url=http://www.test.com/images/1/7/4/7/9/thumb.jpg to Code: [Select] $updated_url= /home/vhosts/test.com/httpdocs/images/1/7/4/7/9/thumb.jpgThe directories in the url are created dynamically Right now what i am doin is Code: [Select] $updated_url='/home/vhosts/'.$url.'/httpdocs/images/'.basename($url)which gives me /home/vhosts/test.com/httpdocs/images/thumb. But I also need to get the directories 1/7/4/7/9. It may be differ for different urls. Can this be done through some form of string replacement or pattern matching method? Any Help? This topic has been moved to mod_rewrite. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=347966.0 I have one input upload and need it to go to two directories here is my upload code that handles the move_upload_file portion. Code: [Select] move_uploaded_file($_FILES['fillPDF']['tmp_name'], $strNewsPath . $strFilename); Thanks in advance. How do I include a file that is located two directories above the file that I want to include the file into? My absolute hosting path is /home/content/52/8840652/html if this would be of any use. I'm not quite sure about the PHP include functions. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks! I am a php newb. I have 2 somewhat simple problems. First I have a huge list of movies that I would like sorted in a drop down list alphabetically. I already have the drop down list made and the movies show up correctly. But I cannot figure out how to sort the list. Here is the code <?php $dir="/backup/Movies"; if ($handle = opendir($dir)) { while (false !== ($file = readdir($handle))) { if ($file != "." && $file != ".." && $file != "index.php") { $thelist .= '<option>'.$file.'</option>'; } } closedir($handle); } ?> <form action="listen.php" method="post" name="table"> <select name="Movie"> <P><?=$thelist?></p>' </select> </form> Second problem is inside this directory there are a few other directories is it possible to make the directories show at the top instead of them being sorted alphabetically with the movies. Thanks in advance Jake Hello there, I am pretty new to php and I was wondering if anyone can give me some input. Basically I am creating a search engine where I can search for words in certain files. I am trying to search using two or more words for instance a file may have the sentence 'the cat ran across the road', and another file has 'the road is long'. I would like to search 'cat road', and have these two files show up with each word highlighted. At the moment 'cat road' is being searched as just one string. I have exploded the keyword, and i have broken the array into separate words but for some reason it is still not searching. Again I would appreciate any feedback. Just to show you a bit of my code to explain: if(!empty($_GET['keyword'])) { $user_input = trim($_GET['keyword']); $user_input = preg_replace("/ {2,}/", " ",$user_input); $keyword = explode(" ", $user_input); for($i=0;$i<count($keyword);$i++) { echo("$keyword[$i]\n"); } $keyword = $_GET['keyword']; } Thanks for your time, Farha Hey I have this code which works fine, it echos the file names from a directory into a dropdown box how can I change it to include more then one directory <?php $dirname = "../images/staff"; $dir = opendir($dirname); echo '<select name="file2">'; echo '<option value="">none</option>'; while(false != ($file = readdir($dir))) { if(($file != ".") and ($file != "..")) { echo "<option value=".$file.">$file</option>"; } } echo '</select>'; ?> I tried this but it didnt work any help <?php $dirname = "../images/staff"; $dirname .= "../images/boarddirectors"; $dir = opendir($dirname); echo '<select name="file2">'; echo '<option value="">none</option>'; while(false != ($file = readdir($dir))) { if(($file != ".") and ($file != "..")) { echo "<option value=".$file.">$file</option>"; } } echo '</select>'; ?> This topic has been moved to mod_rewrite. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=356538.0 i am getting this as a echo, Code: [Select] Directory handle: Resource id #2 Files: . ..why? Now basically I have two fields; dirID (INT) directory (VARCHAR) now I am fully aware this might sound like more of an SQL question but I have three physical directories: db/images/web1 db/images/web2 db/images/web3 I have inputted them into the database but I was just wondering, how could I created a page which links those records to a directory. I want to have each row hyperlinked, with the output page displaying list of contents for each directory. How can I possibly achieve this please? Hello, I have a .htaccess file set up to create directories and files based on my PHP variables. That's how it looks anyway. It's really just some URL rewriting. I'm looking to submit a form and use the code on the same page to handle the form via isset(). The problem is, however, that $_SERVER['PHP_SELF']; redirects me back to the original base/index.php page, while nothing gets submitted. I can sort of see why, but is there any way to overcome it? I could probably use the actual file and variable names, but that isn't very practical as I intend on using this code as a basis for a much larger scale. I'm not too fond of using external pages as sources for the form action either for the same reason. My intentions were to have everything handled on a single page. Also, feel free to post constructive criticism on how to improve the code. I'm rather new to PHP and will need all the help I can get. .htaccess code Code: [Select] RewriteRule base/([a-zA-Z]+)/$ base/index.php?cat=$1 RewriteRule base/([a-zA-Z]+)/([a-zA-Z0-9]+)\.php$ base/index.php?cat=$1&subcat=$2 index.php code Code: [Select] <html> <head> <title>Index</title> </head> <body> <?php $cat=$_GET['cat']; $subcat=$_GET['subcat']; if (isset($cat)){ if ($cat=='foo'){ if (isset($subcat)){ if($subcat=='bar'){ if (isset($_POST['submit'])) { echo 'Entry Submitted Successfully'; } else{ ?> <h1>Add an Entry</h1> <div> <form action="<?php echo $_SERVER['PHP_SELF']; ?>" method="post"> <div> <span>Field:</span> <span><input type="text" size="15" /></span> </div> <div> <input name="submit" type="submit" value="Submit" /> </div> </form> </div> <p> <a href="/base/">Return to Base Page</a> </p> <?php } } else { echo 'Error: Not a valid sub-category.'; } } else { ?> <h1>Select an Option</h1> <ul> <li><a href="bar.php">Add Entry</a></li> </ul> <p> <a href="/base/">Return to Base Page</a> </p> <?php } } else { echo 'Error: Not a valid Category.'; } } else{ ?> <h1>Base Page</h1> <h2><a href="foo/">Go to "Select an Option" page</a></h2> <ul> <li><a href="foo/bar.php">Go to "Add an Entry" page</a></li> </ul> <?php } ?> </div> </body></html> Firstly, I'd just like to say hello, seeing as this is my first post. I've had a look about and I think I'm going to enjoy my stay here. Now, here's my problem. I'm using $_GET to power dynamic-content. Code: [Select] <?php //creates page variable $page = isset($_GET['page']) ? $_GET['page'] : 'home'; ?> Code: [Select] <?php //checks if there is content for the chosen if(file_exists('content/'.$page.'.php')) { //if there is, it is included include('content/'.$page.'.php'); } else { if(file_exists('content/404.php')) { //if their wasn't any content include('content/404.php'); } } ?> So say, for example, I have "Hello World!" in a file called helloworld.php and I go to websiteurl.com/helloworld (I've set up .HTACCESS to ignore "index.php?page=") The "Hello World!" would display fine. The problem I'm having is if someone tries an url like this: websiteurl.com/directory/file It will display the content for the default (in this case home, since that's what I set it to at the start) in the directory. This means there is no styling and I run into a whole load of problems after that. So, that's my problem. Does anyone know how I would solve this? I'm unsure if it's because of the .HTACCESS or the way the PHP is being used. I'd also like to know if there are any other security flaws with this code? I'm also sorry if I've been unclear or if my sentences don't make sense (it's rather later and I'm not sleeping lately) And lastly, I'm sorry if I've broken any forum rules, since this is my first post I'm a little weary. Thanks a lot guys. Pete. I have used the following script to correctly display the first file from the array across the selected directory and its sub-directories. Does anyone know how to modify this code to only echo the most recent file based on filemtime across the directory/subdirectories? Code: [Select] function ListFiles($dir) { if($dh = opendir($dir)) { $files = Array(); $inner_files = Array(); while($file = readdir($dh)) { if($file != "." && $file != ".." && $file[0] != '.') { if(is_dir($dir . "/" . $file)) { $inner_files = ListFiles($dir . "/" . $file); if(is_array($inner_files)) $files = array_merge($files, $inner_files); } else { array_push($files, $dir . "/" . $file); } } } closedir($dh); return $files; } } echo array_shift(ListFiles('media/media/images')); |
