PHP - Trouble W/mysqli Update
Hi, I am having trouble coding for mysqli update. Please, somebody

So I'm not very familiar with using mySQLi, but I'm wanting to print a user's last name, depending on which user is logged in (obviously it needs to be their last name and not another users)
So, we're getting the session for the user and saving their username as $username

And then my query to display their lastname?

Dear Sir/Madame I am making a website where user can insert data and wait for the admin to approve/reject the form. Now i am stuck with the update status where an admin can submit with a click pending to approval or reject with comments. I am new to PHP programming. Can somebody help me with the issue. Part 1 is inserting the data and part two is fetching the data but i am unable to solve the status approve/reject and comment at the same time on the view.php? page. Kindly help. Thank you.

Hey all, I'm having some trouble running some mysql statements through mysqli. I've tried to debug them various ways, but to no avail. Is there a problem with the syntax of the predefined query in $statement->prepare('SELECT * FROM users WHERE ? = ? AND ? = ?') ? I really can't seem to find the problem in this code. There are no errors returned. The output from the print_r() statements are Code: [Select] Array ( [0] => Name [1] => Trey [2] => Password [3] => ...snip... )from the first print_r and Code: [Select] -1from the second. Hi folks, This has been wrecking my brain. I did do a google a few times to see if I can find a solution but nothing unfortunately. I want to be able to update the details on a page without having to reupload a new image each time. But if I don't open a new image for upload, I cannot update any of the other details. Below is the code and form etc for this particular thing... Please note this is just a project and will not be going live. I know there are vulnerabilities and I will work on those at a later stage. As you can see I am trying to use an If clause if the image field in the form is empty then I just want to update the other details. Else, if I fill the image field with a file, then update the lot.

I have an error in the update, but I am not seeing where I made it. Its annoying because the update won't execute and anything beyond the update isn't visible in the html source code in the browser, so it is likely to be a syntax error, but where?

Hi guys, Sorry - this might more belong in the SQL section but I think it is PHP related. I am trying to update a table with: $sql="UPDATE $tbl_name SET (gender, description) VALUES ('$gender', '$description') WHERE image = ('$photoname')"; $result=mysql_query($sql); Needless to say, its not working. Only odd thing is that the $photoname variable is sent with a hidden field on the previous form. I can echo all 3 varaibles though and get the right results. The manual approach: update $tablename set $column1='a', $column2='b' where $id=$value; what Im basically trying to do is just like a phpmyadmin function... you select rows you want to update with a checkbox and then it takes you to a page where the rows that are clicked are shown in forms so that you can view and edit info in them... and then have 1 submit button to update them all at once. I'll only include the query part of the code since that's what is relevant to my problem. The idea is basically to upload a new picture onto the database if no picture already exists for that member and display the picture on the page. If a picture already exists, then the script replaces the old picture with the new one upon upload. But for whatever reason I don't understand, when I try to replace the old pic, it gets inserted in a new row on the database instead of replacing the old row, and the new pic gets displayed on the web page alongside the old.
