Hi I'm having an issue with a piece of code, it pretty much works but the line to output the total weight only seems to be picking up the count and not multiplying it by the weight. Any ideas why this is? I have added the code of my database table Code: [Select] CREATE TABLE `users` ( `id` int(11) NOT NULL AUTO_INCREMENT, `username` varchar(50) NOT NULL, `money` int(11) NOT NULL, PRIMARY KEY (`id`) ) ENGINE=MyISAM AUTO_INCREMENT=23 DEFAULT CHARSET=utf8; And i have some rows like (1,peter, $94) (2,John,$16) .... .... .... .... .... i want to add those values (i.e their money) and shows like [ total money = $110]... I have done few queries like Code: [Select] SELECT id,SUM(money) FROM usersand Code: [Select] mysql_query("SELECT * FROM `users` SUM `money` WHERE id='$id'");But nothing seems to work out... Any help guysss.... Thanks in advance... Heja I have a MySQL database which contains information of members and the current balance of there accounts (eg: $1000) it also shows there current gain (eg: 1.2%) what i have been doing is individually updating each clients percent and balance. What i'm trying to work out is how to add a percent gain for the week and both the percent and balance of the clients are updated according to the submitted gain for example: Client 1 has $1,000 and has a current gain of 1.5% Client 2 has $,2000 and has a current gain of 2.5% I want to update both clients by 1.5% and then both clients be updated like so: Client 1 would now have $1,010.50 and now has a gain of 3.0% Client 2 would now have $2,020.50 and now has a gain of 4.0% I was looking around and could find much information on the internet or exactly has this can be achieved so i started to work on a addition and try atleast add the % however it dont go accordingly, i suppose im very rusty at my php. I started working around something like this: Code: [Select] mysql_select_db('mem') or trigger_error("SQL", E_USER_ERROR); $a1 = mysql_query("SELECT profits FROM account"); $a= $a1; $b=$b1; /* html <input type="text" name="b1" id="b1"> the % i want to update*/ $add=($a+$b); $sql = "UPDATE mem SET balance = balance +'$add'"; if (!mysql_query($sql)) { die('Error: ' . mysql_error()); } This obviously does not work but it could possibly give you a better understanding of maybe what im trying to do here. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks I am new to php and need help creating addition and multiplication tables using the html code we were given. I feel like I am on the right track, but I am getting a few errors and I cant figure them out. One of the errors is that it tells me I am not putting in a valid number for rows even though it is a positive number so it should work. Here is my code and all help is appreciated thanks in advance.

Please can someone point me to where I can learn to program the following all one one page? Here is a screenshot of what I'm after. Idea being that you put hours and minutes into the top row. Then hours and minutes into the next row. Click the button and get the answer at the bottom. The answer to 1 hour 40 minutes added to 1 hour 40 minutes should obviously be 3 hours 20 minutes. Here's how I would approach it in another language, but am brand new to php hence the help required. Make the following variables. Hour1 Hour2 Minute1 Minute2 Total_Hours Total_Minutes Combined_Time I would then write something like Total_minutes = minute1 + Minute2 Total_hours = Hour1 + hour2 combined time = Total_hours * 60 + (Total_Minutes) // reset the total hours Total_hours = 0 Loop here.... while combined_time >60 Total_hours = Total_hours + 1 combined_time = combined time -60 re-do the loop Now in the boxes at the bottom put bottom hour box = total hours bottom minute box = combined_time (remaining minutes) here's the code I have so far. I am trying to get the box to be checked if equal to 1 and unchecked if equal to 0. My database is updating correctly, but the checkbox is not. Code: [Select] <input type="checkbox" <?php if ($row['create_event'] = 1){ echo "checked='yes' value='check'";} else{ echo "checked='no' value='unchecked'";} ?> name="option1" > Create Event<br> I call Code: [Select] echo $row['edit_event']; before executing this line and it returns 0 I call Code: [Select] echo $row['edit_event']; after executing this line and it returns 1 This makes me think that my if statement is really updating that row instead of performing a check. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Hi, I have the following query to update a record: Code: [Select] $idcliente = $_POST['id_cliente']; $shippingsliptitle = $_POST["shippingslip_title"]; //convert date format list($dia,$mes,$ano)=explode("-",$_POST['shippingslip_date']); $shippingslipdate="$ano-$mes-$dia"; $shippingslipnumber=$_POST["shippingslip_number"]; $Sql="UPDATE t_shippingslips SET id_cliente='$idcliente', shippingslip_title='$shippingsliptitle', shippingslip_date='$shippingslipdate', shippingslip_number='$shippingslipnumber',shippingslip_path='$filePath' WHERE id_shippingslip='$colname_presupuestos_RS'"; $res=mysql_query($Sql) or die ("Error: ". mysql_error(). " with query ". $Sql); The problem is the date field resets to 00-00-0000 in the DB if I don't change the date ij the update orm. How can I fix this? Thanks Hi, I am trying to use this code to take all the unique town names from one table and populate a new table with those towns. this code doesnt add town names to the new table and deletes any that are there with blank space - any clues? Code: [Select] mysql_select_db($database_contractors, $contractors); $query_Recordset3 = "SELECT DISTINCT est_town FROM hotels"; $res3 = mysql_query($query_Recordset3, $contractors) or die(mysql_error()); $num_rows = mysql_num_rows($res3); echo $num_rows . "<br />" ; mysql_query('UPDATE town_coords SET town_name = '.$town.''); } Hi guys, basically, I've got a web application I'm working on for someone; they want a system where they can book drivers, and they want a tick box where they can check the availability of a driver. The check box name is "field14" and has default value of "1" for ticked and "0" for unticked. Now, i've INSERT into the database a ticked box so in the "available" field is has "1" meaning yes, the people is available....but now the problem is if I want to tick off and say they're unavailable, how would I do that, because everytime I tick off it still represents the value of "1" and shows them as available.... Here is some code: if (($field14)==1) { echo "<p><label>ADR in Tank Class 1</label><input type='checkbox' name='field14' value='1' checked/></p><br /><br />"; } else { echo "<p><label>ADR in Tank Class 1</label><input type='checkbox' name='14' value='0'/></p>"; } I would really appreciate your help. Thanks I have a function that contains 2 UPDATE commands. One updates a table whenever the function is ran. The second updates only if a condition is met. When the page loads the function is ran. For some reason the table is updated twice. So my table looks like this: Initially Viewed: 0 Replies: 0 Navigate to page: Viewed:2 Replies:0 Enter a reply and submit: Veiwed:4 Replies:1 No matter where I move the "viewed +1" code, it fires twice per page impression. Is this a glitch? Do functions run twice for some reason? If so why doesn't "reply +1" fire twice? //page loads as forum.php?goto=innertopic function connectForum(){ //connects DB if($_GET['goto'] == "innertopic"){ detailTopic(); } } function detailTopic(){ if(isset($_POST['content']{ //if there is a reply to a post mysql_query("UPDATE topics SET Replies=Replies+1") //works fine } else{ //no reply, just show all posts mysql_query("UPDATE topics SET Views=Views+1") //fires 2 times per page load .. ?!?!? //show posts //show reply window, posts to forum.php?goto=innertopic&&content=whateverTheUserTyped } } //html of page if($_GET['goto'] == "innertopic"){ connectForum(); } Hi PHP Freaks. Noobie here. Trying to learn PHP, following lecturesnippets.com PHP lessons. This is lesson 38. This seems like it should be simple, but no matter what I do, I can't get the database to update. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Here's my code right now:
<html> Hello everybody, I have a script that allows a user to set themselves a target and a script that allows them to edit the target if they decide to. Now everything works as it should until the data from the form (on the edit target page) should be updated in the database. I require that the user must update at least one field. For example they may want to extend the completion date so I would only want to update the completion date field in the database and the fields the user left blank should not be updated in the database. The problem I am having is regardless of if the user enter a value into the field it updates the database so if the user leaves a field blank it updates the database will a blank value. Here is my code: //If the user clicks the update button on a WEIGHT LOSS target run the following code to update the database if(isset($_POST['target_weight_loss_update'])){ $target_weight_loss_update = $_POST['target_weight_loss_update']; $weight_loss_complete_update = $_POST['weight_loss_complete_update']; $weight_loss_comment_update = $_POST['weight_loss_comment_update']; $weight_loss_user_id_update = $_POST['weight_loss_user_id_update']; //Check that at least one value has been entered into the form if(empty($target_weight_loss_update) && empty($weight_loss_complete_update) && empty($weight_loss_comment_update)){ $error_msg = 'Please enter at least one value to update your '.$target_type.' target'; } //Check to see what variables have values in them so we know what fields to update in datebase //If the user has entered a value for their TARGET WEIGHT LOSS update that value in the database if(isset($target_weight_loss_update) || !empty($target_weight_loss_update)){ $target_weight_loss_update_sql = mysql_query("UPDATE user_targets SET target_weight='$target_weight_loss_update' WHERE id='$target_id' LIMIT 1") or die (mysql_error()); //Check that the update was successful if($target_weight_loss_update_sql){ $error_msg = 'Target '.$target_type.' updated successfully'; } else { $error_msg = 'Could not update target. Please try again.'; } } //If the user has entered a value for their TARTGET WEIGHT LOSS DATE update that value in the database if(isset($weight_loss_complete_update) || !empty($weight_loss_complete_update)){ $weight_loss_completion_date_sql = mysql_query("UPDATE user_targets SET target_date='$weight_loss_complete_update' WHERE id='$target_id' LIMIT 1") or die (mysql_error()); //Check that the update was successful if($weight_loss_completion_date_sql){ $error_msg = 'Target '.$target_type.' updated successfully'; } else { $error_msg = 'Could not update target. Please try again.'; } } //If the user has entered a value for their TARGET WEIGHT LOSS COMMENT update that value in the database if(isset($weight_loss_comment_update) || !empty($weight_loss_comment_update)){ $weight_loss_comment_update_sql = mysql_query("UPDATE user_targets SET extra_info='$weight_loss_comment_update' WHERE id='$target_id' LIMIT 1") or die (mysql_error()); //Check that the update was successful if($weight_loss_comment_update_sql){ $error_msg = 'Target '.$target_type.' updated successfully'; } else { $error_msg = 'Could not update target. Please try again.'; } } } So the question I ask is how can I stop entering blank values into the database and only update the information the user enters into the form? Also I was thinking of having one mysql query at the end and using the IF statements to build the query. Thoughts? Thanks for any advice. been trying to get a code up and working for a update database form, couldnt really get any working i found from google and then after a bit of help from here i got a crazy idea and stopped dead and my tracks and switched gears. so i thought, why not just use the form i used to insert my database and change it around a little. same concept, how should this not be possible ? for reference here are my tables and structure Movies ID(PK) Title Category(FK) URL 0 Name 1 http://www. Categories ID(PK) Category 1 Drama note: i know i should change Category from movies to CategoryID for less confusion. to make long story short when i tried i got errors, to much time to go back over everything so i will just stick with what i got for now. ok so my insert form inserts a movie title, category and url into my movies table. the dropdown for category is populated with a list of categories in my categories table, the way the code is writen it shows the actual category name instead of the id inside the dropdown. the form goes like: Title: textfield1 Category:dropdown URL:textfield2 so what i did was took the code from it, replaced title textfield1 with the same dropdown for category and just edited the select and echo to pull and show movie titles. i also added a WHERE to it so i can only select titles in a certian category. so it should look like, Title: dropdown Category:dropdown so here is the code below (ignore leftovers from URL or anything else i plan on taken them out pending the outcome) Code: [Select] <html> <form id="form1" name="Update" method="post" action="ad3.php"> <label> Title: <input type="text" name="Title" id="Title" /> </label> <br /> <select name='dropdownt' id='dropdownt'> <?php $con = mysql_connect("localhost", "root", ""); if (!$con) { die('Could not connect to DB: ' . mysql_error() ); } mysql_select_db ("5", $con); $query = "SELECT Title FROM movies WHERE Category='1'"; $result = mysql_query($query) OR DIE ("There was an error" .mysql_error()); while($row=mysql_fetch_array($result)) { echo " <option value=\"{$row['Title']}\">{$row['Title']}</option>"; } php?> </select> <select name='dropdown' id='dropdown'> <?php $con = mysql_connect("localhost", "root", ""); if (!$con) { die('Could not connect to DB: ' . mysql_error() ); } mysql_select_db ("5", $con); $query = "SELECT ID, Category from categories"; $result = mysql_query($query) OR DIE ("There was an error" .mysql_error()); while($row=mysql_fetch_array($result)) { echo " <option value=\"{$row['ID']}\">{$row['Category']}</option>"; } php?> </select> <input name="" type="submit" value="send" /> </form> </html> one thing that i could not figure out (due to my lack of php knownledge) is that after my SELECT i have the Code: [Select] echo " <option value=\"{$row['Title']}\">{$row['Title']}</option>"; before i had edited this code there was ID where the first 'Title' is. after trying to take one part of that out i got a error so i just left it. so what i thought i would do for the process page (ad3.php) i would just turn the INSERT into a UPDATE. Code: [Select] <?php $con = mysql_connect("localhost", "root", ""); if (!$con) { die('Could not connect to DB: ' . mysql_error() ); } mysql_select_db ("5", $con); $sql="UPDATE movies SET Category = '$_POST[dropdown]', Title = '$_POST[dropdownt]' LIMIT 1"; if (!mysql_query($sql,$con)) { die ('Error: ' . mysql_error()); } echo "<a href=\"form2.php\">Record added. Click here to make a new entry</a>"; the surprising thing (to me anyways) is that it actually worked! well.. ALMOST it should work by letting me select a certian title thats in a certian category and change its current category into a different one and then submit. after a few hours i finaly got it to do what i need BUT the problem i am having is that when looking into my phpmyadmin, it just changes the name and category to the first record in my movies table which is id "0". one of the too. i almost done it on my own.. almost... sorry for the extended post but i didnt want to leave anyone confused. so my question is, did i forget to add anything, take anything out, miss a change i needed to make ? maybe its the echos after my SELECT in my form > Well, I made this yesterday then realised, I need to check is it exists... I got this but when I go to accept the application and the member exists in the table it enters it anyway... Code: [Select] <?php $member=$_POST['memberid']; $status=$_POST['Status']; $con = mysql_connect("host","user","pass"); if (!$con) { die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error()); } mysql_select_db("a2186214_hbclan",$con); $sql="UPDATE application SET Status = '$status' WHERE ID = '$member'"; $sql1="INSERT INTO table_members(name) SELECT application.Name FROM application WHERE application.ID = '$member'"; if ($status == 'ACCEPTED') { if(mysql_num_rows(mysql_query("SELECT name FROM table_members WHERE name = '$member'"))) { if(mysql_query($sql, $con) or die(mysql_error())) { echo 'Status Changed.<br /><a href="../applications.php">Return To Members List</a>'; } else { die('Could not submit: ' . mysql_error()); } } else { if(mysql_query($sql, $con) or die(mysql_error())) { if(mysql_query($sql1, $con) or die(mysql_error())) { echo 'Status Changed.<br /><a href="../applications.php">Return To Members List</a>'; } } else { die('Could not submit: ' . mysql_error()); } } } else { if(mysql_query($sql, $con) or die(mysql_error())) { echo 'Status Changed.<br /><a href="../applications.php">Return To Members List</a>'; } else { die('Could not submit: ' . mysql_error()); } } mysql_close($con); ?> Hi all I am having troubles integrating a shopping cart. $action = (isset($_GET['action']) && $_GET['action'] != '') ? $_GET['action'] : 'view'; switch ($action) { case 'add' : addToCart(); break; case 'update' : updateCart(); break; case 'delete' : deleteFromCart(); break; case 'view' : } Allows me to Delete and Update but not Add an item. The manual approach: update $tablename set $column1='a', $column2='b' where $id=$value; what Im basically trying to do is just like a phpmyadmin function... you select rows you want to update with a checkbox and then it takes you to a page where the rows that are clicked are shown in forms so that you can view and edit info in them... and then have 1 submit button to update them all at once. |
