PHP - Sortable Menu - Get Only Menu 1 Items
Hi All,
Am sure this is simple but can't work it out. I have the following which creates 3 menus:
<p>Drag items from one menu to another</p> <table> <tr> <td valign="top">Menu 1</td> <td valign="top">Menu 2</td> <td valign="top">Menu 3</td> </tr> <tr> <td valign="top"> <ul class="sortable" id="menu1"> <li id="id_1">Item 1</li> <li id="id_2">Item 2</li> </ul> </td> <td valign="top"> <ul class="sortable" id="menu2"> <li id="id_3">Item 3</li> <li id="id_4">Item 4</li> </ul> </td> <td valign="top"> <ul class="sortable" id="menu3"> <li id="id_5">Item 5</li> <li id="id_6">Item 6</li> </ul> </td> </tr> </table>This uses the following to show an array of each menu: $(function() { $("ul.sortable").sortable({ connectWith: '.sortable', update: function(event, ui) { $('#menu_choice').empty().html( $('.sortable').serial() ); } }); }); (function($) { $.fn.serial = function() { var array = []; var $elem = $(this); $elem.each(function(i) { var menu = this.id; $('li', this).each(function(e) { array.push( menu + '['+e+']=' + this.id ); }); }); return array.join('&'); } })(jQuery);What I'd like is to simply grab the values of menu 1 only, as the array shows all menus. What am I doing wrong as can't seem to just return menu1. Going forward, I then want to store the returned array into a PHP cookie if this is possible? Many thanks Similar TutorialsHi, I have this menu code which displays a drop down menu: <ul> <li><a href="<?php echo URL_PUBLIC; ?>">Home</a></li> <?php function submenu($list, $ul){ if($ul){ echo " <ul>";} foreach($list->children() as $newList){ echo ' <li>'.$newList->link($newList->title, (in_array($newList->slug, explode('/', $newList->url)) ? ' class="current"': null)); if ($newList->childrenCount() > 0) { submenu($newList, true); }else{echo "</li>";} } if($ul){echo " </ul></li>";} } submenu($this->find('/'), false); ?> <br style="clear: left" /> </ul> I am trying to exclude certain menu items based on their slug. I have this code, but can't work it into the above: $omit_pages = array('page1', 'page2'); if (in_array($menu->slug, $omit_pages)) { continue; } Does anyone have any ideas how I can work it in? Thanks Hi guys, I'm just working on a script to get menu items from a database, sorted by a sort column. Each item needs to be checked to see if it has a parent, then paired with the parent. Would it be best to get all of the items at once and pair them with PHP, or get the children of each item when as a separate array? id label link parent sort 1 Home index.php 0 10 2 About about.php 0 20 3 Contact Us contact.php 2 10 I'm trying to make it so that someone can add an item to the shop based upon the current items within the database. How do I go about doing that? I know i have to change <input> to <select>, but beyond that, how do I code it so I can run an array to get all the current items from the table `items` and list them by their `name` field? Thanks in advance! Here is what I have so far: function addshopinv($id) { error_reporting(E_ALL); ini_set('display_errors', 1); if (isset($_POST["submit"])) { extract($_POST); $errors = 0; $errorlist = ""; if ($name == "") { $errors++; $errorlist .= "Name is required.<br />"; } else if ($errors == 0) { $dbh=dbconnect() or die ("Userlist read error: " . mysql_error()."<br>"); mysql_select_db("XXX"); $query = mysql_query("SELECT id FROM items WHERE name='$name'"); while ($result = mysql_fetch_array($query)){ $item_id = $result['id']; $query1 = mysql_query("INSERT INTO sale SET shop_id='$id', item_id='$item_id'"); } admindisplay("Inventory Item Added.","Add New Inventory Item"); } else { admindisplay("<b>Errors:</b><br /><div style=\"color:red;\">$errorlist</div><br />Please go back and try again.", "Add New Item to Shop"); } } $page = <<<END <b><u>Add New Inventory Item</u></b><br /><br /> <form action="admin_panel.php?do=addshopinv:$id" method="post"> <table width="90%"> <tr><td width="20%">Name:</td><td><input type="text" name="name" size="30" maxlength="255" value="" />*255 character max</td></tr> </table> <input type="submit" name="submit" value="Submit" /> <input type="reset" name="reset" value="Reset" /> </form> END; $page = parsetemplate($page, $row); admindisplay($page, "Add New Inventory Item"); } hello all, I was hoping someone could help me figure out how to add sizes to my shopping cart. Right now the items add just fine. The site sells shirts and I'm having trouble displaying the sizes once selected and added to the cart. It will post the size selected, but if the customer tries to add another shirt the size will overwrite the last. Any help is appreciated. Heres how I add items to the cart... Code: [Select] session_start(); // Process actions $cart = $_SESSION['cart']; $action = $_GET['action']; switch ($action) { case 'empty': if($cart) { unset($cart); } break; case 'add': if ($cart) { $cart .= ','.$_GET['product_id']; } else { $cart = $_GET['product_id']; } break; The form with the size selection and add to cart button.. I have a problem when i click at the first column of my drop down menu and it explores submenu, the submenu mixes with the nav menu that is under the drop down menu on the left. i could solve it with margin-top of the nav menu but i don't like the empty space beetwen them. I tried with putting overflow:visible; in CSS of my dropdown menu but it is still the same. drop down menu is seen but there is stil seen nav menu under and they are mixed. So basicly i want my dropdown menu to be priority, so when i clicks on my first column (only first column is problem because there under is nav menu the other are open nice) it will explore submenu and the part of nav menu that covers the submenu will be hidden.
Here is the screen shot:
Here is the code of head <dropdown> menu if someone finds the problem.

The only way I know how to do this is to create a separate page for each sorting arrangement and provide a link to each page. Is there any way of doing it on a single page?
I am guessing that I can do things like that with Javascript or jQuery. Is that correct?
Hi, I realise there is likely a very simple solution to this, but I'm pulling my hair out on it. I have a menu.php file on my Intranet that (funnily enough) holds the site menu and is inserted via an include. This works fine. My question is, how can I make it pick up what page I am on in the site, and change the menu accordingly? At the moment, with HTML (and before I changed the site to hold just one menu file), the menu looked like this: Code: [Select] <li class="link"> <a class="link levela" title="The drive formally known as "P""> <span>Company Documents</span></a> <ul> <li class="link"> <a class="link levelb" href="http://hhnet/company_documents/comm_forms.php" title="Forms... for Commission"> <span>Commission Forms</span></a></li> <li class="link"> <a class="link levelb" href="http://hhnet/company_documents/complaint_documentation.php" title="Documents documenting complaints."> <span>Complaint Documentation</span></a></li> and when the page was the current one, it looked like this: Code: [Select] <li class="current"> <a class="current levela" title="The drive formally known as "P""> <span>Company Documents</span></a> <ul> <li class="current"> <a class="current levelb" href="http://hhnet/company_documents/comm_forms.php" title="Forms... for Commission"> <span>Commission Forms</span></a></li> <li class="link"> <a class="link levelb" href="http://hhnet/company_documents/complaint_documentation.php" title="Documents documenting complaints."> <span>Complaint Documentation</span></a></li> As you can see, the class changes to "current". I want to be able to do it so that the central menu file can pick up what page the user is on, and mark the class as current. Any suggestions? Dave I am close to pulling my hair out! I cannot seem to fix it. I am trying to make a HTML dropdown menu, this is what it looks like at the minute. Hi, I am using php dynamic listing from database. it is working but I wanna integrate to a horizontal css menu how can i integrate my codes to any css horizantal dropdown menu. thans. here my dynamic list. <?php function sinirsiz_kategori($parent) { $sql = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM kategoriler ORDER BY id DESC"); while($row = mysql_fetch_array($sql)) { $diziler[$row['id']] = array('baslik' => $row['baslik'],'parent' => $row['parent']); } $has_childs = false; foreach($diziler as $key => $value) { if ($value['parent'] == $parent) { if ($has_childs === false){ $has_childs = true; echo "\t<ul>"; } echo "<li><a href=\"".$value['baslik'].".php\">".$value['baslik']."</a>"; sinirsiz_kategori($key); echo "</li>\n"; } } if ($has_childs === true) echo "</ul>"; } ?> <?=sinirsiz_kategori(0)?> Hi all, I was wondering if someone knows a clean way to make a dropdown menu using just php and html with the following functionality. If someone selects a value from the dropdown options it should be visible on refresh. So in case a have a dropdown menu with: oranges, apples, grapes and someone selects grapes and submits it, grapes should be selected. I have made someonthing but it looks redundant. I think there should be something with a foreach loop or something but i can't figure it out yet. Thanks in advance, cheers!! First of all I am very new to php. I have coded in asp for years but have made the switch so I kinda know what I want to do but I am unsure on how to achieve it. I have a css menu that I am trying to populate through a database. The parent tabs are in a standard list. The first child submenu is in sepearate unordered list and anymore child tabs are within that list. Like this. Code: [Select] <div id="ddtopmenubar" style="width: 960px"> <ul> <li><a href="?page=">HOME </a></li> <li><a href="?page=About" rel="">ABOUT </a></li> <li><a href="?page=Services" rel="SERVICES">SERVICES </a></li> <li><a href="?page=Governance" rel="GOVERNANCE">GOVERNANCE </a></li> <li><a href="?page=Events">EVENTS </a></li> <li><a href="?page=Contact">CONTACT </a></li> </ul> <ul id="SERVICES" class="ddsubmenustyle"> <li><a href="?page=Health">Health/Dental</a></li> <li><a href="?page=Identification">International Student Identification Card</a></li> <li><a href="?page=Employment">Student Employment</a></li> <li><a href="?page=Saver">Student Saver</a></li> <li><a href="#">Other Services</a> <ul> <li><a href="#">Emergency Student Loan Fund</a></li> <li><a href="#">Legal Services</a></li> <li><a href="#">Parking Permits</a></li> <li><a href="#">Homes4Students</a></li> </ul> </li> </ul> <ul id="GOVERNANCE" class="ddsubmenustyle"> <li><a href="?page=Council">Your Council</a></li> <li><a href="?page=Executive">Executive</a></li> <li><a href="?page=Committees">Committees</a></li> <li><a href="?page=Constitution">Constitution/By-Laws</a></li> <li><a href="?page=Minutes">Minutes</a></li> <li><a href="?page=Elections">Elections</a></li> </ul> </div> I am trying to populate this from a database list the results come ordered like this Code: [Select] 1.0 2.0 3.0 3.1 3.2 3.3 3.4 3.4-1 3.4-2 3.4-3 3.4-4 4.0 4.1 4.2 4.3 4.4 4.5 4.6 5.0 6.0 where the "." show the 1st childs and the "-" show the 2nd child I tried to do this by splting each line and determining if it is a zero or not if it was a zero i put that paticular one into an array to be used in the sub menu however this did not work out. Any ideas? im fairly new to php so tend to do trial and error..... more error than trial tbh. im wondering if it is possible to get a drop down menu to fill from a mysql database and to arrange it alphabetically. i have created the menu just dont know how to arrange it better. also how can i use the items id in drop menu to load other info from that row on the database. hope you can help me. Code: [Select] <FORM> <?php $result = mysql_query( "SELECT * FROM movie_info" ) ; echo "<select name= film onChange='submit()' >film name</option>"; while ($nt=mysql_fetch_array($result)){ ?> <?php echo "<option value='$nt[id]'>$nt[title] </option>"; } ?> </select> </FORM> Hi I want to add student from a dropdown list to database but I have some problem. This is my select dropdown menu code <form name ="student" method = "POST" action ="confirmation.php"> <select name="name"> <option selected>Select Student</option> <?php $arrStudent = executeSelectQuery("select * FROM user "); for ($i = 0; $i < count($arrStudent); $i++) { $student_result = $arrStudent[$i]['student_id']; $name_result = $arrStudent[$i]['student_name']; ?> <option value="<?php echo $id_result; ?>"><?php echo $id_result; ?>, <?php echo $name_result; ?></option> <?php } ?> </select> </form> The output in the dropdown menu look something like this: 1, Alvin 2, Benny 3, Charles 4, Daniel 5, Eva and so on... After submitting the form, it will proceed to confirmation.php page. At the confirmation page, I have the following variable: $student_result = $_REQUEST['student_id']; $name_result = $_REQUEST['student_name']; I want to insert to database with the following insert query $sql = "INSERT INTO student(student_id, student_name) VALUES ('". $student_result . "', '". $name_result ."')"; $insert = executeInsertQuery($sql); It can insert successfully but, it will not insert the student_name. May I know where I did wrongly? Thanks Ben Chew Okay, so, here's the scenario. I have a form that is editing an item that is already in the database. The text fields fill in just fine with that info. However, the drop down menus don't retrieve that info, rather resorting to the defaults, which can be a problem if you don't remember what you originally had. Is there anyway to make the dropdown menus pull the info from the table and use that rather than resorting back to the default? I tried using this: Code: [Select] <tr><td width="20%">Bonus:</td><td><select name="bonus" value="{{bonus}}"> <option value="Attack" {{bonus1select}}>Add to the attack power of weapon</option> <option value="Defense" {{bonus2select}}>Add to the defensive power of armor</option> <option value="None" {{bonus3select}}>No effect</option> </select><br /></td></tr> So, it's obvious the "value" portion not working. Any help would be great!! I'm trying to make my menu dynamic for example I will have a menu with it's submenus and when the user logs on the submenu account will then be shown where it wasn't shown before the user logged on. here is my submenu.controller Code: [Select] <?php class submenus_controller extends controller{ protected $_helpers = array('form', 'html'); protected $_observers = array('seo_uris'); public $model='submenus'; public function ajax_set_submenu($submenu_id){ $submenu=$this->_model->get($submenu_id); $_SESSION['submenu']=$submenu; } } ?> and here is my default page Code: [Select] <!doctype html> <!--[if lt IE 7]> <html class="no-js ie6 oldie" lang="en"> <![endif]--> <!--[if IE 7]> <html class="no-js ie7 oldie" lang="en"> <![endif]--> <!--[if IE 8]> <html class="no-js ie8 oldie" lang="en"> <![endif]--> <!--[if gt IE 8]><!--> <html class="no-js" lang="en"> <!--<![endif]--> <head> <title><?php echo $this->get_title();?></title> <meta name="author" content="team digitalpro"> <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width,initial-scale=1"> <meta name = "Description" content = "<?php echo $this->get_description();?>" /> <meta name = "Keywords" content = "<?php echo $this->get_keywords(); ?>" /> <link rel="stylesheet" href="/css/style.css"> <script src="js/libs/modernizr-2.0.6.min.js"></script> </head> <body> <div id="container"> <header> <div class="inhoud"> <div id="logo"><a href="/"><img src="/img/logo.gif" width="306" height="126" border="0" /></a></div> <nav> <div class="menu"> <ul> <?php if (isset($this->_params['menus']) && is_array($this->_params['menus'])){ foreach ($this->_params['menus'] as $menu){ if (!empty($menu['submenus.page_id'])){ $uri=$this->get_uri('/pages/view/'.$menu['submenus.page_id']); }else{ $uri=$this->get_uri("/{$menu['submenus.controller']}/{$menu['submenus.action']}"); } // p($menu); ?> <li><a href="<?php echo $uri ?>" onclick="javascript:return setMenu(<?php echo $menu['id'] ?>);"><?php echo strtoupper($menu['name'])?></a></li> <?php } } ?> </ul> </div> </nav> </div> </header> <div id="hero-pic"> <div id="slogans"><img src="../img/slogans.png" width="277" height="214" /></div> <img src="../img/hero.gif" width="996" height="286" /></div> <main> <div id="left"> <div class="inhoud"> <div id="left-nav"> <ul> <?php if (isset($this->_params['submenus']) && is_array($this->_params['submenus'])){ foreach ($this->_params['submenus'] as $submenu){ if (!empty($submenu['page_id'])){ $uri=$this->get_uri('/pages/view/'.$submenu['page_id']); }else{ $uri=$this->get_uri("/{$submenu['controller']}/{$submenu['action']}"); } ?> <li<?php if ($_SESSION['submenu']['id'] == $submenu['id']){?> class="active"<?php ;} ?>> <a href="<?php echo $uri ?>" onclick="javascript:return setSubMenu(<?php echo $submenu['id'] ?>);"> <?php echo strtoupper($submenu['name'])?> </a> </li> <?php } } ?> </ul> </div> <form method="post" action=""> <input type="text" id="search" /> <input type="submit" name="button" value="GO" class="go" /> </form> <div class="sub-links"> <ul> <li><a href="#">Home</a></li> <li><a href="#">Contact us</a></li> <li><a href="#">Sitemap</a></li> <li><a href="#">Privacy policy</a></li> </ul> </div> </div> </div> <div id="right"> <div class="inhoud"> <?php echo $this->page('view') ?> </div> </div> </main> <footer> <!-- <div class="inhoud"> <ul> <li><a href="#">COMPANY </a></li> <li><a href="#">PRIVATE EQUITY </a></li> <li><a href="#">CONSULTING </a></li> <li><a href="#">INVEST </a></li> <li><a href="#">PARTNERS </a></li> <li><a href="#">NEWS</a></li> </ul> --> <p> </p> <p> </p> </div> </footer> </div> <script src="//ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.6.2/jquery.min.js"></script> <script>window.jQuery || document.write('<script src="/js/libs/jquery-1.6.2.min.js"><\/script>')</script> <script defer src="/js/plugins.js"></script> <script defer src="/js/script.js"></script> <script> window._gaq = [['_setAccount','UAXXXXXXXX1'],['_trackPageview'],['_trackPageLoadTime']]; Modernizr.load({ load: ('https:' == location.protocol ? I'm pretty new in PHP programmation and really new on this forum. So, I'll try to explain my situation the best I can. I have created a modification page where the user can modify certain data of the database. To avoid spelling mistakes, I have created a scroll down menu that includes all the options they have. My problem is that I what the "actual Selection" of the database to be the "selected" option right from the start. Now, my scroll0-down menu shows the first option of my list and not the actual value contained in the database. Here is my partial code: <td><select name="equipe" value="<?php echo($result->equipe) ;?>"> <option <?php if (($result->equipe) == 'Colorado') echo "selected" ?>value='Colorado'>Colorado</option> <option <?php if (($result->equipe) == 'St-Louis') echo "selected" ?>value='St-Louis'>St-Louis</option> <option <?php if (($result->equipe) == 'Montreal') echo "selected" ?>value='Montreal'>Colorado</option> <option <?php if (($result->equipe) == 'Washington') echo "selected" ?>value='Washington'>Washington</option> <option <?php if (($result->equipe) == 'Islanders') echo "selected" ?>value='Islanders'>Islanders</option> <option <?php if (($result->equipe) == 'Edmonton') echo "selected" ?>value='Edmonton'>Edmonton</option> <option <?php if (($result->equipe) == 'Floride') echo "selected" ?>value='Floride'>Floride</option> <option <?php if (($result->equipe) == 'Pittsburgh') echo "selected" ?>value='Pittsburgh'>Pittsburgh</option> <option <?php if (($result->equipe) == 'Anaheim') echo "selected" ?>value='Anaheim'>Anaheim</option> </select> Hi I have a temporary web page with a drop down menu. Problem is to get rid of the gap on the drop down menus. Any help please
