I am a newbie to mvc and so I am learning how it all works. I have a dynamic nav menu that populates the categories from the db. The menu/categories will populate and work fine when I view the nav page on its own, but it will not work when it is included in the index view page. What should I do to make the dynamic menu view on all the view pages that i need it to? Below is my code, any guidance would be greatly appreciated. SOLVED Hi All, I have written the following to validate my dynamic includes, one question is i will be using sessions to control user access to certain pages. Obviously the session_start() has to go into my index.php file. Can anyone see any problems with this or my dynamic include validation code. My page varilable is populated using the mod_rewirte function in appache. <?PHP include('inc/settings.inc.php'); if(isset($_GET['page'])) { //remove slashes $page = stripslashes($_GET['page']); //rebuild the extension and file name $filename = 'lib/'.$page.'.php'; //Check to see if the file exists in lib if (file_exists($filename)) { //Dynamic Switch $allowed = array( array("test", "New Customers"), array("home", "Home Page"), ); $iffed = false; $get_section = $_GET['page']; //Create a dynamic switch to check for files being in my allowed array foreach($allowed as $rd) { if($get_section == $rd[0]) { $iffed = $rd; $content = $filename; foreach($rd as $value) { $page_title = $value; } } } if($iffed === false) { //File is not in my include list. die( "Page does not pass the validated inclusion list." ); } } else { //Page does not exist in my lib folder. die('Page does not exist, please contact the administrator.'); } } else { // If no page is requested then default home. $filename = 'lib/home.php'; $content = '1'; $page_title = 'Home'; } ?> Thanks in advance. Sam Hi all I have a string in an include file for a javascript lightbox value. I need this value to increase by one every time it loops. Here's my code: $fetchproducts = mysql_query(" SELECT * FROM `products` "); while($returnedProduct = mysql_fetch_array($fetchproducts)) { include('product-cell.php'); } The string is called $lightboxcount in the product-cell.php file Can I fit a ++ into the code above? Many thanks for your help Pete This topic has been moved to HTML Help. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=352099.0 I am looking to add a comment area to pages that are created with data that is pulled off of a database. I am looking for something like the forums on this site, but not as complex. I was thinking about attempting to use a text file to hold the comments for each ID number that is in my database and then displaying those comments when the ID number is called. I'm not sure how I would go about making a function that would search if there was a text file for that ID number and if not to create one. I'm not even sure if this is the best way to go about it but I know if I put all the comments into a database it will get rather large rather quickly. Any pointers and good tutorials would be welcome. Sorry if it sounds as if this post is rambling, I think I need to step away from the computer for a bit. Thanks Folks, I need help (Php code ) to generate a Dynamic Text on a Base Image. What i want to do is, to make this Image as header on my Site and to make this Header Specific to a Site, i want to Add the Domain Name on the Lower Left of the Image. Got the Idea? Here is the Image link: Quote http://img27.imageshack.us/i/shoppingheader1.jpg/ PHP Variable that holds the Domain name is: $domain All i need the Dynamic PHP Codes that i can put on all my sites to generate this Text on Image (Header) Dynamically... May Anyone Help me with this Please? Cheers Natasha T. Hi Still a new comer when it comes to PHP. I have a situation where I want to use an include within an include and I am having trouble with my file paths. My main header include, includes everything for each page of my site, beyond the opening of the body to incorporate my navigation etc conditionally loading in css, and loading in titles and meta data etc depending on the page in question. This header needs to reference another include called the-pod.php which is required for every page, the only trouble is I want to use / to reference the root of the server and this is breaking my code. I can't use ../../ etc as its a different path depending on where the master file is located. So my question is how do I get around this? Can the root of the server or path to the root be stored in a variable? and if so how would I write this. Any tips / advice will be greatly appreciated. CanI put one INCLUDE statement INSIDE of another INCLUDE statement? Hi Guys.. Merry Christmas Im kinda new to this fantastic world of PHP and i have a little problem i hope you can help me with. Im trying to build a website where I use include() to genereate my content. On my index.php i have a menu which includes content in a content div from external .php pages, my structure kinda goes like this.. (simplified) site/ index.php content/ fronpage.php products.php contact.php The HTML looks like this. <div id="menu"> <ul> <li><a href="index.php?page=frontpage">frontpage</a></li> <li><a href="index.php?page=products">frontpage</a></li> <li><a href="index.php?page=contact">frontpage</a></li> </ul> </div <div id="main"> <?php include('/content/'.$_GET['page'].'.php'); ?> </div> This all works very fine, but my problem is, can I have a include inside an already included page? I would like to have a menu on my products.php site, but that page is already included from above, and i would like the menu on the products.php site to stay as the content from the nested include changes with input from the /products folder. my idea was something like this. site/ index.php content/ frontpage.php products.php contact.php products/ product1.php product2.php the HTML on the index.php is the same as above and then i would add the include() on the products.php page, so its kinda the same thing, but one inside the other. HTML inside the products.php folder <div id="sub_menu"> <ul> <li><a href="#">frontpage</a></li> <li><a href="#">frontpage</a></li> <li><a href="#">frontpage</a></li> </ul> </div <div id="sub_main"> <?php include('/content/products'.$_GET['#'].'.php'); ?> </div> I dont know how to link to the new files so they will be included while the first include still stays on the page. Any of you know how and if this can be done? Or maybe at better way to do it? Hope this made sense, my first PHP question Thanks Hi all I need to combine these two scripts: Firstly, the following decides which out of the following list is selected based on its value in the mySQL table: <select name="pack_choice"> <option value="Meters / Pack"<?php echo (($result['pack_choice']=="Meters / Pack") ? ' selected="selected"':'') ?>>Meters / Pack (m2)</option> <option value="m3"<?php echo (($result['pack_choice']=="m3") ? ' selected="selected"':'') ?>>Meters / Pack (m3)</option> <option value="Quantity"<?php echo (($result['pack_choice']=="Quantity") ? ' selected="selected"':'') ?>>Quantity</option> </select> Although this works OK, I need it also to show dynamic values like this: select name="category"> <?php $listCategories=mysql_query("SELECT * FROM `product_categories` ORDER BY id ASC"); while($categoryReturned=mysql_fetch_array($listCategories)) { echo "<option value=\"".$categoryReturned['name']."\">".$categoryReturned['name']."</option>"; } ?> </select> I'm not sure if this is possible? Many thanks for your help. Pete hey guys ive been using this regual expression for my configuration files to get the variable and value ie.

How is it possible with the help of regular expression? This topic has been ~= s/PHP Coding Help/PHP Regex. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=348290.0 Hi people,
i need to find 16x150gr in Dried Pomegranate Arils16x150gr but the format can vary from
Mt Ceder Balsamic Vinegar 12x250ml to
Mt Ceder Balsamic Vinegar 2x2ltr to
Dried Kalamata Olives 4x1kg. i guess you got the drift
i tried something like : '/[1-9]+x[1-9]+[a-z]+/' but i am so useless at regex.
Thank you!
Hey I'm pretty new to regular expression, so I might have made a silly mistake. I want to check if there are any symbols/special characters (not letters or numbers) in a string. I have the code below. function validateKeywords($kw) { if (preg_match("/[^A-Za-z0-9]/", $kw)) { echo 'validation of keywords failed<br />'; return false; // String contains symbols (not letters or numbers) - incorrect format! } else { echo 'validation of keywords succeeded<br />'; return true; // Correct format } } // Testing validateKeywords('some random string I wrote for testing purposes'); // should succeed validateKeywords('some random 10 string I wrote for testing purposes 2010'); // should succeed validateKeywords('some random, string, I wrote for 19 testing purposes'); // should fail validateKeywords('some, random, string I wrote, for testing purposes'); // should fail The problem is that all 4 calls return false and print that the validation failed. So, where did I mess up? Thanks! Code: [Select] <pre> <pre class="brush:cpp"> <pre class="brush:javascript"> Those can be cpp, javascript, python ... etc. I need to change/replace these into: Code: [Select] <pre> <pre class="brush:cpp"> <pre class="brush:javascript"> Those can be cpp, javascript, python ... etc. I need a generic regular expression for this? Can anyone provide the generic regular expression for this to replace? Trying=> $abc = str_replace(array($generic-regular-expression),'<pre> or <pre class="brush:cpp"> or <pre class="brush:javascript"> ..... ',$str); Can anyone help me. I have very little knowledge about programming and coding and php, but I am tutoring myself on these. I want to write a code that will search for a movie in this website search => http://myandyourface.com/DELETE/imdb-poster.php. NOTE: in searching for the movie, the movie name with more than one word can be type in in combination form by using the + sign. For example, the movie "the vow", typing that into the search box will be so => the+vow. As an example, I got the result as show below: {"Title":"The Vow","Year":"2012","Rated":"PG-13","Released":"10 Feb 2012","Genre":"Drama, Romance","Director":"Michael Sucsy","Writer":"Jason Katims, Abby Kohn","Actors":"Rachel McAdams, Channing Tatum, Sam Neill, Jessica Lange","Plot":"A car accident puts Paige (McAdams) in a coma, and when she wakes up with severe memory loss, her husband Leo (Tatum) works to win her heart again.","Poster":"http://ia.media-imdb.com/images/M/MV5BMjE1OTU5MjU0N15BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwMzI3OTU5Ng@@._V1_SX320.jpg","Runtime":"N/A","Rating":"N/A","Votes":"N/A","ID":"tt1606389","Response":"True"} So, this is what I wanted to do, I wanted to write a php code expression that will search for a specific movie and provide the result as above, and then using the regex and str_replace, and others, I will be able to remove all the above detail information and have ONLY the image link as in above, which is => http://ia.media-imdb.com/images/M/MV5BMjE1OTU5MjU0N15BMl5BanBnXkFtZTcwMzI3OTU5Ng@@._V1_SX320.jpg I will appreciate any help in creating a code for this Thanks!
