Similar TutorialsHi again all, I have made an update form where the user selects an ID from a dropdown, and then enters the new infomation into fields and saves it. Really stuck on this one... Any help would be apreciated.. thanks.. Mick. Hi,
I created a form that inserts first - last name, address, and email address into a mysql databse table.
The record inserts correctly - No problems here.
The problem is I only want to insert the data if the email and address doesn't exist.
I set it up for just the email right now to try to get this to work but have failed.
When the form is submitted and the record exists it inserts the record anyway and sends the email which it's not suppose to do.
The form is suppose to after submitting -
1. validate
2. insert only if the record doesn't exist
3. send the email.
Here's the code
<?php $to = "email@email.com"; if(isset($_POST['submit'])) { // VALIDATION if(empty($_POST['firstName'])) { $errorfirstName .= "First Name Required"; } if(empty($_POST['lastName'])) { $errorfirstName .= "Last Name Required"; } if(empty($error)) # No error go ahead and email it. { $to = "$to"; $subject = 'the form'; $msg .="<html><head> <meta http-equiv='Content-Type' content='text/html; charset=utf-8' /> <title>The Form</title> </head> <body> <table> <tr> <td>Email sent for confirmation</td> </tr> </table> </body> </html>"; $mail($to, $subject, $headers, $msg); if(!$result) { $error = "<div id='errors'>There was an unknown error </div>"; } else { include('connection.php'); $firstName = mysqli_real_escape_string($con, $_POST['firstName']); $lastName = mysqli_real_escape_string($con, $_POST['lastName']); $address = mysqli_real_escape_string($con, $_POST['address']); $email = mysqli_real_escape_string($con, $_POST['email']); $email = $_POST['email']; $sql = "SELECT * FROM table WHERE `email` = '{$email}'"; $result = mysql_query($sql); if ( mysql_num_rows ( $result ) > 0 ) { $error = "Email Exists."; } else { $error = "Email does not exist. Insert it!!!"; $sql="INSERT INTO table (firstName, lastName, address, email) VALUES ('$_POST[firstName]','$_POST[lastName]','$_POST[address]', '$_POST[email]')"; } if (!mysqli_query($con,$sql)) { die('Error: ' . mysqli_error($con)); } mysqli_close($con) { } } } } ?> <!-- Form --> <html> <head></head> <body> <section> <form method="POST" action="theform" name="for" onsubmit="return validateForm(this)"> <?php if(!empty($error)) { echo "$error"; } ?> This where the inputs would go not going to include them because not having an issue with the form </form> </section> </body> </html> Edited by barkly, 26 October 2014 - 06:54 PM. (`authtype`, `identity`, `flags`, `name`, `immunity`, `user_email`) VALUES (NULL, '$authtype', '$identity', '$flags', '$name', '$immunity', '$user_email')"); $okay = @mysql_affected_rows(); if($okay > 0) { header( "Location: ../index.php?value=success" ); } else { header( "Location: ../index.php?value=fail" ); } @mysql_close($link); ?> And finally my sm_admin_db.php file is as follows: <?PHP //host loaction define("_HOST", "localhost", TRUE); //database username define("_USER", "thatsact_admin", TRUE); //database username`s password define("_PASS", "*********", TRUE); //database name define("_DB", "thatsact_sadadmins", TRUE); //database table name change this to install multiple version on same database define("_TBL", "sm_admins", TRUE); //This is the email that you will recieve emails when someone signs up. define("_EMAIL", "admin@tag-clan.com", TRUE); ?> All of this together does not work and gives the echo error code, however the mysql_error() string does not return anything. Nothing is inserted into the database. Can I get some help on where I went wrong and please keep in mind I am VERY new to php and didn't write most of this script so just tell me what to edit and exactly how to do it please. Thanks in advance. Hey all, I'm very new to php and am having an issue writing to my database with a passed value and info taking from a form and am lost as to what to do. The $comm_id is the value I am getting from another php page that I am passing in the link from the other page. I need to insert that value, the session variable, and the $cmt value, which is taken from the user input from the form. As it stands now, when I run this, the $comm_id and $u_id insert and the $cmt is blank, BUT $cmt is echoing on the screen with the proper value. Any tips or direction would be great as i've been trying to sort this out for days now and i'm stumped. <?php $host='localhost'; $user='username'; $password='password'; $dbname='db_a'; session_start(); $id_link=mysql_connect($host,$user,$password); mysql_select_db($dbname, $id_link); $comm_id = $_GET['commId']; $u_id = $_SESSION['userId']; echo $comm_id; echo $u_id; $cmt = $_POST["comm"]; mysql_query("insert into Comments values($u_id, $comm_id,'$cmt');"); echo $cmt; ?> <FORM ACTION="test.php" METHOD="POST"> <input type="text" name="comm"> <input type="SUBMIT"> </FORM> The information is drawn in from a table into a form that the user will click submit and all the rows will be inputted into the table with their username association. With this form, its only inputting the last row and not all of them. You're help is much appreciated! Here is the form in the PHP area: while($row=mysql_fetch_array($get_items_sql)){ $name =$row['item']; $date = ($row['expiration_date']); $exp_date = date('M d Y', strtotime($row['expiration_date'])); $content .= ""; $content .="<table width=\"450\" border=\"0\"><tr><td width=\"200\"><span class=\"anotherfont\"><input name=\"item[]\" type=\"hidden\" value=\"$name\" id=\"item[]\">$name</span></td><td width=\"200\"><span class=\"greenfont\"><input name=\"expiration_date[]\" type=\"hidden\" value=\"$date\" id=\"expiration_date[]\">$exp_date</span><input name=\"username[]\" type=\"hidden\" value=\"$username\" id=\"username[]\"/> </td></tr><br /></table>"; $content .= "\n"; } $content .= "</ul>\n"; Then below is part of the HTML Form with $content referenced: <form action="add_select.php?source_id=<?php echo $coupon_source ?>" method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data" name="add_new" id="add_new"> <?php echo $content ?> <input name="SUBMIT" type="submit" value="submit" /></form><br /> Then here is the section from the "add_select.php" file from the form: include('connect.php'); foreach($_POST['item'] as $row=>$item) { $Item_name=$item; $expiration_date=$_POST['expiration_date'][$row]; $username=$_POST['username'][$row]; } foreach($_POST['item'] as $row=>$item) { $Item_name=mysql_real_escape_string($item); $expiration_date=mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['expiration_date'][$row]); $username=mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['username'][$row]); } $sql2="INSERT INTO place (item, expiration_date, username) VALUES ('$Item_name', '$expiration_date', '$username')"; if (!mysql_query($sql2)) { die('Error: ' . mysql_error()); }else { header("location:insert_complete.php"); } HI first timer here so please forgive me if this is in the wrong section. Anyway, here goes. I have 2 tables Table 1 Levels LevelID LevelName Table 2 Members MemberID FirstName LastName Birthdate LevelID I have a form that has the LevelID populated from table 1 with a query. When I enter all my data and hit submit the data gets written to the members table. However, the LevelID is written as 0 for each and everyone record that I have entered. So the question is what am I missing? As mentioned I am very new at this so any help would be greatly appreciated. Please see below for my code. Thanks in advance <?php require_once 'dblogin1.php'; $db_server = mysql_connect($db_hostname, $db_username, $db_password); if (!$db_server) die("Unable to connect to MySQL: " . mysql_error()); mysql_select_db($db_database) or die("Unable to select database: " . mysql_error()); $sql = "SELECT\n" . I'm making a private webpage for my self where i can post news, games, music titles and movies. I'm made it so that i can post and delete them from my page. Also i wanted to have the option to edit them. So i made a action that shows me a list og the posts in each category. And then i want the option to hit UPDATE, and then it should open the form with the info's from MySQL. I've made those two options as the following: Code: [Select] elseif ( $action == "EditNews" ) { // EDIT NEWS START if ( !$_GET['id'] ) { ?> <div id="content"> <?php $sql = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM news") or die(mysql_error()); while ( $row = mysql_fetch_assoc($sql) ) { echo "<a href=\"?page=Admin&action=UpdateNews&id=" . $row['news_id'] . This topic has been moved to JavaScript Help. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=333336.0 Hi everyone, I'm new to this group and new to php. I have created a multi-part form that allows the user the option to add multiple input fields to a form to upload images. Here is the form structu Code: [Select] <form action="Scripts/processreports2.php" method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data" name="report_form" target="uploader" class="reportfrm"> <fieldset> <legend>Upload your images</legend> <ol id="add_images"> <li> <input type="file" class="input" name="files[]" /> </li> <li> <input type="file" class="input" name="files[]" /> </li> <li> <input type="file" class="input" name="files[]" /> </li> </ol> <input type="button" name="addFile" id="addFile" value="Add Another Image" onclick="window.addFile(this);"/> </fieldset> <p>* indicates a required field.</p> <input name="submit" type="submit" id="submit" value="Send Info!" /> </form> Through php a maximum of three input fields are fed into an array that checks to make sure that the uploaded files are images and not some other type of file. The uploading porition of this script works. Now I am trying to get the values of the input fields as a string and insert them into the database as one record. Let's say the user has three files they want to upload. I have managed to get the files as a string ie; file1.jpg, file2.jpg, file3.jpg but what is happening is that I am getting three separate records with file1.jpg, file2.jpg, file3.jpg in them. If the user has only two files to upload then I get two separate records with file1.jpg and file2.jpg in them. (Hope that makes sense). I want one record. I have been struggling with this since Monnday and while every day I get closer, this is as close as I can get. Below is the php code. #connect to the database mysql_connect("localhost", "root", ""); mysql_select_db("masscic"); //Upload Handler to check image types function is_image($file) { $file_types = array('jpeg', 'gif', 'bmp'); //acceptable file types if ($img = getimagesize($file)){ //echo '<pre>'; //print_r($_FILES); used for testing //print_r($img); used for testing if(in_array(str_replace('image/', '', $img['mime']), $file_types)) return $img; } return false; } //form submission handling if(isset($_POST['submit'])) { //file variables $fname = $_FILES['files']['name']; $ftype = $_FILES['files']['type']; $fsize = $_FILES['files']['size']; $tname = $_FILES['files']['tmp_name']; $ferror = $_FILES['files']['error']; $newDir = '../uploads/'; //relative to where this script file resides for($i = 0; $i < count($fname); $i++) { //echo 'File name ' . $fname[$i] . ' has size ' . $fsize[$i]; used for testing if ($ferror[$i] =='UPLOAD ERR OK' || $ferror[$i] ==0) { if(is_image($tname[$i])) { //append the tmp_name($tname) to the file name ($fname) and upload to the server move_uploaded_file($tname[$i], ($newDir.time().$fname[$i])); echo '<li><span class="success">'.$fname[$i].' -- image has been accepted<br></span></li>'; }else echo '<li><span class="error">'.$fname[$i].' -- is not an accepted file type<br></span></li>'; } if (is_array($fname)) $files = implode(', ',$fname); //else $files = $fname; $sqlInsert = mysql_query("INSERT INTO files (file_names) VALUES('$files')") or die (mysql_error()); } } I am trying to get this query correct. I want to insert a record into the database upon form submission but only if the record does not already exist. If the record exists, then I want it to be updated in the database.
What is happening: Upon form submit, a new record is entered into the database every time. Note: The contact_id column is both primary key and unique in my database. Here is my code:
if($_POST['submit']){ $con=mysqli_connect("localhost","username","password","database_name"); // Check connection if (mysqli_connect_errno()) { echo "Failed to connect to MySQL: " . mysqli_connect_error(); } $org = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['organization']); $namefirst = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['firstName']); $namelast = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['lastName']); $emailaddy = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['email']); $phonenum = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['phone']); $appquestion = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['appquestion']); $banner = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['banner']); $bulletin = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['bulletin']); $giveaway = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['giveaway']); $app = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['app']); $tshirt = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['tshirt']); $tshirtp = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['tshirtp']); $print = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['print']); $party = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['party']); $orgnotes = mysql_real_escape_string($_POST['notes']); $sql="INSERT INTO database_name (contact_id, first_name, last_name, email_address, phone_number, org, appquestion, banner, bulletin, giveaway, app, tshirt, promised_tee, print, party, org_notes) VALUES ('','$namefirst','$namelast','$emailaddy','$phonenum','$churchorg','$appquestion','$banner','$bulletin','$giveaway','$app','$tshirt','$tshirtp','$print','$party','$orgnotes') ON DUPLICATE KEY UPDATE first_name = '$namefirst', last_name = '$namelast', email_address = '$emailaddy', phone_number = '$phonenum', org = '$org', appquestion = '$appquestion', banner = '$banner', bulletin = '$bulletin', giveaway = '$giveaway', app = '$app', tshirt = '$tshirt', promised_tee = '$tshirtp', print = '$print', party = '$party', org_notes = '$orgnotes'" ; if (!mysqli_query($con,$sql)) { die('Error: ' . mysqli_error($con)); } echo "1 record added"; mysqli_close($con); }From everything I have read, I need to use ON DUPLICATE KEY UPDATE to replace the old information with new information in the database upon form submission. While the insert part of my code is working, the portion with ON DUPLICATE KEY UPDATE is not working. Why might this portion of the code not be working? Is there a better way to insert else update the information? Thank you for any help or guidance you can give me! I've been working on this concept for three days and have read a ton of information about it, but am still not able to get it to work. I'm creating a report page and can't figure out how to retrieve multiple rows from a table and display them in html. There are 5 data elements in each row and I'm thinking that using a form in the html might be the best way as I'm totally ignorant about tables in html. I'm a newbie to php and can't figure out how to accomplish this. Here's the code that I have so far: <?php $filename = NULL; session_start(); // start of script every time. // setup a path for all of your canned php scripts $php_scripts = '../php/'; // a folder above the web accessible tree // load the pdo connection module require $php_scripts . 'PDO_Connection_Select.php'; //******************************* // Begin the script here // Connect to the database if (!$con = PDOConnect("foxclone")): { echo "Failed to connect to database" ; exit; } else: { $sql = 'SELECT COUNT(IP_ADDRESS) FROM download WHERE FILENAME IS NOT NULL'; $sql1 = 'Update download t2, ip_lookup t1 set t2.country = t1.country, t2.area = t1.area, t2.city = t1.city where ((t2.IP_ADDRESS) = (t1.start_ip) OR (t2.IP_ADDRESS) > (t1.start_ip)) AND ((t2.IP_ADDRESS) = (t1.end_ip) OR (t2.IP_ADDRESS) < (t1.end_ip)) AND (t2.FILENAME is not null and t2.country is null)'; $sql2 = 'SELECT (IP_ADDRESS, FILENAME, country, area, city) from download where FILENAME is not null'; // Update the table $stmt = $con->prepare($sql1); $stmt->execute(); // Get count of rows to be displayed in table $stmt = $con->prepare($sql); $stmt->execute() ; $cnt = $stmt->fetch(PDO::FETCH_NUM); // retrieve one row at a time $i = 1; while($i <= $cnt){ $stmt = $con->prepare($sql2); $row->execute(array('')); // Do I need an array here? // from here on, I'm lost $i++; I'd appreciate any guidance you can provide or understandable tutorials you can point me to.
