PHP - Bbcode (code Tag) Is Not Parsing Multiple Lines

i am wanting to add a code tag to my bbcode list. Anything within this tag will be printed as is(like the html code). I have tried using htmlspecialchars() but it isnt printing the code. Here is the parser section for the tag:

Any ideas?

hi, i have the following which parses the quote tag and replaces it with a span

$bb[] = "#\[quote\](.*?)\[/quote\]#si";
      $html[] = "<span class='quote'>\\1</div>";

what i would like however is for the bbcode to be Quote from: xxxx

where xxxx is the name of the person you are quoting.
so how would i parse this? I also need the same for font color but if someone can provide a solution to this one then i think i could work it out.

I'm attempting to add syntax highlighting to my bbcode function. I started with the general basis for a bbcode function that there are a million tutorials on.

To make things simpler I took out the rest of the bbcode tags.

I've tried using the highlight_string() function but it never highlights it. I assumed this was because when I store the data in the database I used htmlentities() on the text. So I also tried the following to no avail:

I've tried a few other methods that have produced syntax highlighting but have broken other posts that don't need it. So is there something I'm just obliviously missing?

I have a Description field that gets sent to my Payment Gateway which can be put in an e-mail to my customer after a successful purchase.

Is it possible to have multiple lines and line-breaks in one Array Value??

For example...

If someone types in my textarea without any hard returns, it echos the entire text on a single line, which expands my site very very far and screws up the layout.

how can I echo the text but limit the number of characters per line before I insert my own line break?
