PHP - Base64 Vs Readfile: Display Secured Image
An image is secured in the root directory, to be displayed to customer in html document.
This image can be displayed as a link to a php readfile page Which is better? Why and why not? Thank you. Edited yesterday at 01:15 PM by ChenXiuSimilar TutorialsWhich is better? Why and why not? An image is secured in the root directory, to be displayed to customer in html document.
This image can be displayed as a link to a php readfile page Thank you. Hi all, Yesterday I transferred my hosting to a new provider. Everything is up and running apart from the following message I get on my index page Warning: readfile() [function.readfile]: Filename cannot be empty in /home/XXXX/public_html/imgsize.php on line 64 . This error is only on the index page. When I look at line 64 it states the following: readfile ($img); I have tried replacing the imgsize.php file but that still does not work. And on my old hosting this error does not occur. If you could please help, I would appericate it. Cheers Steve Code: [Select] echo '<img src="data:image/jpg/png/jpeg;base64,' . base64_encode( $row['image'] ) . '" height="150" />'; This is showing up images great in firefox, safari and chrome, but in internet explorer it shows a nice red cross, and I assume it is because of the encoding? Does anyone know how to get working in internet explorer as well? Pretty urgent job! Much appreciated for your help! Hi group, I need to create a string to be used by base64_encode to build an SVG file. The source for the string is an image I built in memory. Code: [Select] $img = imagecreatetruecolor( 50,50 ); Other stuff, draw circles, test, ect. I currently write it out to disk with: Code: [Select] imagepng( $img, "$Name.png" ); Then read it back in and process it to create an SVG file. I would like to avoid writing it to disk, so how can I create a string for base64_encode from an in memory image?? Thanks for your time.
An image is saved in the root directory. $file = '../image.jpg'; // IN ROOT DIRECTORY $type = 'image/jpeg'; header('Content-Type:'.$type); header('Content-Length: ' . filesize($file)); readfile($file);
The image then gets embedded into an html page and displayed like this:
QUESTION: in the event of an error, how do I dipslay the readfile error on the customer's html page? Make sense? No. I probably have to rewrite my question 😃 Edited Monday at 01:07 AM by ChenXiu
I have a form on which the filepond plugin send the file manually
Look here if(empty($_POST['image'])) { echo 'add file!'; } $myimage = $_POST['image']; $myimage = str_replace('data:image/png;base64,', '', $myimage); $myimage = str_replace(' ', '+', $myimage); $decode = base64_decode($myimage); $myfile = $_SERVER['DOCUMENT_ROOT'].'/mages/' . uniqid() . '.png'; //now put the file file_put_contents($myfile, $decode);

Question:
This works by having the actual image name stored in a hidden session variable, using the following lines of code on my readfile page "label.php" like this: Since I do not want customers to be allowed to ever see the image again after logging out, is it okay to rely on a hidden session variable for the filename as I described above? (Potential hackers will be less tempted to "try different image names and numbers" like "id1.png, id2.png, id3.png" because they will have no idea if the image will be a gif, jpeg, or png, nor have any idea of a numbering sequence.) Thank you!!
Securing my upload folder “upl”
The upl folder is used to store anything that is uploaded by the user for their needs that is not a part of the back end, as such all content in this folder is subject to being locked down and and supplied after checking credentials.
The upl folder has an .htaccess file that locks down all remote access. order deny,allow deny from all
When something is needed from this directory we jump that wall with the help of apache after credentials are verified.
I think this is straight forward so far.
For images something like; <img src=”downloader.php?app=1&id=20&type=thumb”>
For files something like; <a href=”downloader.php?app=1&id=20&type=file&fileid=1212”>
After we check creds, we use similar to below to get data from that locked down folder.
$size = filesize($file); header ( 'Content-Description: File Transfer' ); header("Content-Type: application/force-download"); header ( 'Content-Type: application/octet-stream' ); header ( "Content-Disposition: attachment; filename=\"".basename($file)."\""); header ( 'Expires: 0' ); header ( 'Cache-Control: must-revalidate' ); header ( 'Pragma: public' ); header ( 'Content-Length: ' . filesize ( $file ) ); ob_clean(); flush(); readfile ( $file ); exit();
seems to work pretty swimmingly for the most part. My problem is (or at lease a mild nuisance) is that it seems that these images loaded in this manner are not subject to the cache system of a browser? It looks like they reload every time a page is visited. Is there a way around this?
i'm new to php and don't really know where to start here... i'm automating a system that scrapes a site for a particular pdf download link (got this far), downloads it, parses the pdf, etc... problem is that you must be logged in (while viewing in the browser) in order to access the pdf... if you're not logged in, you are redirected and the download fails... i do have a proper login... how would i go about utilizing my login in order automate the pdf download? is there a way to send the login with the url request? or open a stream, login, and retry the download? thanks I need some help with a form being successfully submitted redirecting to a secure page. I already have the form code working and just need the part to redirect within an else statement. Also need to redirect a user back to the form page if they try and visit the secure page without being a member. thanks in advance. Hi, Im trying to use base64_decode on a string, however the string is sometimes plain text others its encoded, how can i test to see if the sting is encoded or plaintext and only perform the decode if the string is indeed encoded? Im pretty new to PHP, but ive seen mentions of regex or preg_match for certain characteristics of base64 encoded, my one observation is it usually ends in == which wouldnt appear in my plain text, could i do a preg match for that? I have implemented the base64_encode() function with some custom mapping table so I could encode some binary data more securely without anyone knowing how to decode it here is the class <?php class Base64 { /** * I have changed letter placement (P <=> x, S <=> 9) and the cases * You can completely redo the mapping table */ private static $BinaryMap = array( 'a', 'b', 'c', 'd', 'e', 'f', 'g', do I go about decoding this, it contains a number of different images Hi guys, I'm parsing a bunch of html sources, some of them (a minority) contain base64 encoded URLs. At least 20-30 URLs per page. Some of the information I need is taken from the URLs. I'm looking for a way to parse these URLs without losing too much time (20-30 URLs per page and I need to parse about 10k pages daily). Should I regex each source individually for base64 encoded URLs and then decode them each time and isn't that going to take a lot of time/resources (especially considering it's only a minority that have the base64 URLs in them)? Or is there a better way to do it? Code snippets are absolutely welcome! Thank you in advance I have just installed a new theme for my site at JamesGeddes.com however I want to edit the php footer file This, however, is coded in base64; fine for browsers, not so great for people! The file is at http://jamesgeddes.com/wp-content/themes/techno/footer.php but so that you can look at it I have copied the contents to a text file http://jamesgeddes.com/wp-content/themes/techno/txt/footer.txt How can I turn this base64 nonsense in to normal PHP code? Thanks for your help! James Hey, having some troblems using the readfile function.. I have the following code. I want to download the file "blabla.gif", but the file is in a certain directory (let's say: "/ExampleFile/Files/" . How do I set the path to "/ExampleFile/Files/" ? $file ='blabla.gif'; if (file_exists($file)) { header('Content-Description: File Transfer'); header('Content-Type: application/octet-stream'); header('Content-Disposition: attachment; filename='.basename($file)); header('Content-Transfer-Encoding: binary'); header('Expires: 0'); header('Cache-Control: must-revalidate, post-check=0, pre-check=0'); header('Pragma: public'); header('Content-Length: ' . filesize($file)); ob_clean(); flush(); readfile($file); exit; } Thanks, Ruben dear folks
this question is regarding the plugin update, file uploader and SFTP - on a wordpress that runs on secured- server
I think I know the answer to the following question as "not possible" but I figured I would check. my sites are on servers where we disable FTP access and only use SFTP access, and also on a different port (not port 22). what if i want to use a automated maintaining service like the following https://mainwp.com http://wwww.infinitewp.com automated Installing and updating plugins to the sites does not seem to work and I assume this is the reason why. I'm also assuming the File uploader extension will not work either. Can anyone confirm this for sure though? Any ideas as far as workaround? one might think of the following way: Can you try adding your SFTP settings into the wp-config of one of my sites to see if that allows the functions to work? we can see an example in http://codex.wordpre...g_wp-config.php under WordPress Upgrade Constants or possibly try this plugin SSH SFTP Updater Support do you have any idear!? cf: https://mainwp.com/f...&highlight=sftp So to stop third-party traffic on certain media files my site does, I did a download.php type script that just took in the media id, and found the filename and did a readfile on it for the user. The problem is that when you start doing massive amounts of traffic with it, I think the readfile stream is taking up a lot of cpu. Is there any alternative to readfile that creates a direct link between the user and the file, instead of it having to go through the php? I'm afraid that this is something I need to do on the server end, and not in PHP, but I figured I'd ask. Hi guys Im new here. Ive got a small problem. I have a simple uploading script, had problems with that too but its working fine now to a certain extent. When I set a download link for the files that have been uploaded and click to download, it downloads but I get the following errors when I open the file, its a .txt file. But it seems to happen on all files also, it allows me to download .png, .php, .jpg bout it wont actually open them once they are downloaded (Ive change the domain to an example, its not my actual domain within the warnings below): The following warnings occurred: Warning [2] filesize() [function.filesize]: stat failed for http://mydomain/expiry_files/downloads/text.txt" - Line: 69 - File: expiry_download.php PHP 5.2.17 (Linux) Warning [2] readfile(http://mydomain/expiry_files/downloads/text.txt") [function.readfile]: failed to open stream: HTTP request failed!
