PHP - How To Insert Php And Html Mixed Code To Php Variable For Mpdf Printing ?

I've come around this problem quite a few times now, so I'm looking for a cleaner way to do what I always resort to. Here's my scenario:

The following line is fairly straightforward:

$sql_where = " WHERE SUBSTRING(name,1,1) = '".$c."' ";

But sometimes I need to explode on some values, rising a need for multiple instances of the above, as in MYSQL's WHERE bla = 1 || WHERE bla = 2 || WHERE bla = 3

Of course, I could always write it out manually, like this:
foreach($c as $v) {
   $sql_str .=  "WHERE SUBSTRING(name,1,1) = '".$v."' ";
}

But I want my code to be more modular. The only solution I've been using so far is something like this:
$where_start = "WHERE SUBSTRING(name,1,1) = '";
$where_end = "' ";
foreach($c as $v) {
   $sql_str .= $where_start . $v . $where_end;
}

I find this technique a bit ridiculous and I was wondering if there was a similar method as say when you want to sprintf like this:


$v = 'Bla bla %s bla';
sprintf($str, $v);

So my question is basically this: is there any way to use a sprintf-like function that will concatenate variables inside variables?

I finally got my kml to display through the static maps api thinking I could then display my map on the pdf I'm generating using mpdf.  But,  it is not displaying the image in the pdf.  It works fine on a blank test page.

Any ideas on how I could make this work with mpdf?

I have an HTML list of locations, which I want to separate out into countries and cities, then put in an HTML menu with cities as submenu items of countries.

My method is to turn the locations into two arrays, the original one with HTML links and the second one with just the name of the location, see if location matches an array of country name, and parse accordingly.

I've done it successfully with a test array of locations

Hi, I need to insert some code into my current form code which will check to see if a username exist and if so will display an echo message. If it does not exist will post the form (assuming everything else is filled in correctly). I have tried some code in a few places but it doesn't work correctly as I get the username message exist no matter what. Hi all, I'm trying to set up a situation where a function loops through a multidimensional array and echos an html block for each item in the $skus['skunum'] array and also increments $i each time . ( Each is a product on the site)   
The catch is that I'm trying to have a function within that one that goes through the $skus['sizes'] and echoes an option if the substring (shirt size) exists.

The idea being that I can manage products by adding 4 elements, Skunum, name, price and size.

And well, I'm failing miserably. 

At this point it won't even work because of the variable scope, I'm getting Notice: Undefined variable: skus
from the functions, but am not sure of the right way to get that information.

Am I going about doing this entirely wrong or am I on the right track?

Hello! I was wondering if this could be done... I want to take a variable, and insert it into a URL for a $_GET on a different page?  Basically Its a member website, and I want the admin to be able to "accept" or "deny" the application... So i have a page that displays all the applications, and I want it to take him to a different page with all the user's information in detail.  Right now it only displays their name, but when the admin presses the link, it takes them to a more detailed page about the applicant, where they can then "accept" or "deny" the application....

Here is what i got so far...

Hi - I'm quite confused. I have a variety of variables derived from a post array which all INSERT  except for one: $prodname[$i].  Yet it will echo out, and Var_dump shows that it is a string.  I have checked the table and the field is a 50 character varchar. If I hard code into my app 'foobar' ( a string ! ) instead of the variable it will insert.  Theother variables that I am using will also insert - ok they are floats and ints.

If I remove the $prodname[$i] from my query, the query executes fine with the remaining values, but it fails with it in.

Can anyone tell me what I need to do to get this one variable to insert ?  I'm using MySQL 5.5
