PHP - I Want To Create & Add Multiple Category In Wordpress Programmatically

I do have a sql table named "module" and a parent module may have a sub module. Each parent module can have a maximum of 9 sub modules of three per <td>.

This is how this "module" table looks like:

Hello,

I have been searching and trying all sorts of ways to get my sub categories drop down to show the correct info after selecting a category from the main drop down but im getting stuck.

It's pulling the categories and sub categories from the mysql database fine but no matter which main category i pick it keeps showing the same result in the sub category.

My brother said i need to use some sort of onchange do this so the sub category list refreshs but everything i have tried doesn't work..


PLEASE could some one help.

hello - dear phpfreaks, i portet over a wordpress site to localhost. (an opensuse linux-box)

all went nice and was very smooth to do so.

after porting over the files and the db;
i added the db-name and user-name etc. but nothing more.
then i looked at the site http://localhost/mysite

i saw the site - but only once -  that is very very interesting.

i read that i have to do more.  Probably these changes - mentioned below are mandantory in order to avoid a blank page

  The two fields you need to edit are “siteurl” (highlighted above) and “home” (which you may need to navigate to the second page to find). Just click the “Edit” buttons next to each field, and replace the URL contained in “option_value” with “http://localhost/yourfoldername/”.

Please note that if you use custom permalinks, you will need to change them to default (in the WordPress > Settings > Permalinks screen) in order for internal links on your site to work. question: is this true? Do i need to make these changes to avoid a blank page!?
 

Currently I run a site that aggregates jobs about 100 cities so far and its starting to slow down my sites resources, I use a wordpress plugin to bring in the jobs but its giving me a resources alert.   My traffics not that high as of yet, but I'm worried about it causing problems on my shared hosting.   Server is running apache. Slow for wordpress?   Was just wondering best way to bring in multiple cities (thousands) /feeds and add category for each.

Everything working good, but my wordpress heaer and footer missing, thats what i am asking to how to implement my custom development multiple PHP page work into Wordpress.

I have looked around all overr, but cant find what im looking for. Everything I have found is about uploading multile files, what I need to do is upload one file and copy it so there is 3 files.

Here is an example of what I need to accomplish.

Upload file picture1.jpg

From picture1.jpg create 3 files - smallimage_picture1.jpg, largeimage_picture1.jpg & smallimage_picture1_thumb.jpg

Each file will need to be copied to a /products directory and also an entry for each file name placed in mysql database table.

I don't think this is as simple as it sounds to do in PHP, but i am very willing to learn so if anyone knows of a good tutorial that get get me started that would be super.

hey i am using a MySql database and i need to create a dynamic HTML table with one of its columns as checkboxes.so i have to create multiple checkboxes.but these checkbox values are to be stored in a mysql table and then later retrieved when form reloads.and depending on previous state when form was submitted, the newly created checkboxes have to be checked in the same manner.so how do i store multiple checkbox values in my table and also how do i retrieve them?

How am I best to do this please?  my OR within the mysql does not work, should I not be doing this with php in the search processing?  someones help would really be appreciated, just to point me in the right direction.

I have a php tutorial that I followed for creating, inserting, selecting and updating a MySQL database with php.  Everything works fine so I wanted to put it into Wordpress.  I took the code and placed it into the wordpress page and everything worked just fine except the update function. 

Here is the tutorial I used. http://www.phpsimple.net/mysql_insert_record.html  It is also the part I am having trouble with.  I am able to create a record and I am also able to select a record but when I choose "update" the form doesn't load the data.  It will outside the website but not inside wordpress.  I am hoping this is not vague but because of my inexperience I am not sure what else to say.  I will be more than happy to provide any other information you need.

So I am having some difficulties with a category system. I want my code to search the database an unlimited amount of times to the very last directory and then display it in tree view on my screen. I'm having some trouble because I am having to specify how many depths the code will search. How can I get it to do this on it's own? Currently my code does this...

Hope I am in the right area.  I am working on a project which is sort of a business directory.  I have a category table, a sub-category table then the actual account table.  So a user clicks on the category, then selects the sub-category to view information of accounts in that category, and then be able to click to see the full profile.  Here's where I am getting stuck.  A user may be listed in more than one sub.  As an example, let's say a parent is Cars, then subs might be New, Used, Parts, etc.  Now a particular user might be listed under all three subs.  How can I link them?  I have my cat/sub linked via parent/child id's.  However, how can I get the user to be linked to multiple subs?  Would I need to create a separate table to do similar to parent/child of the categories?  If so, then how would I insert the multiple id's into the table?  I assume at this point that I would use drop downs for the subs.  I am having a real hard time wrapping my head around this so any help is greatly appreciated.

I've been using PHP for a few years now but for some reason I can never seem to get my head around arrays, basically I have a blog site that I want to show all posts that have been posted in public categories but ignore those in the private categories, I had the idea to put all the private category ID's into an array and use that to check against the posts, however my array isn't working out the way I'd hoped.

This is what I have:

$isPrivate = mysql_query("SELECT categoryID FROM mod_cat WHERE isPrivate =1") or die (mysql_error());
while ($isPrivateList = mysql_fetch_array($isPrivate, MYSQL_NUM)) {
$ignoreList = $isPrivateList;

However this isn't working at all. I know its wrong I just can't work out how to make it right. This is the mySQL I want to use it with:

I have managed to get almost everything sorted apart from one thing. The function which gets the categories for a drop down select box:

Basically the problem is that it only creates a category list of two levels e.g.

and I wish to be able to have more sub categories e.g.

Is there anyway of adapting this code so it can do something like that? Many thanks for any help.
