PHP - Weird Question, But Still... Is There Any Method, Api, Anything To Detect Gmail Client Timezone Setting?
Nonsense question, but still... Is there any method to detect gmail client timezone setting? Like mobile app and web gmail client? Not browser or IP or similar, but gmail. Thank you for your answers. Alright so I have 3 pages. Signup, Password reset and Send message. All three pages/forms email to the recipient.
So far my test have only been with hotmail and gmail.
All emails go through for hotmail accounts. They show up in the hotmail.
All emails DO go through for gmail accounts. But they don't show up in the gmail. The only page that gmail is able to receive emails from is "send message". The emails derived from that send message show up in gmail. The other two don't.
There are not errors on the server side that show up. It clearly shows emails being sent.
Does anyone have a clue why this is happening?
Edited by man5, 23 August 2014 - 03:48 PM. I am currently streaming my mp4 files perfectly fine using php. My issue is, how do I detect when the video is either no longer being watched, or disconnected? I need to run a function after this so that I know the video is no longer being watched for analytics. Is there a way maybe with sockets or something? I'm currently using this.
if (file_exists($request)) { $fp = @fopen($request, 'rb'); $size = filesize($request); $length = $size; $start = 0; $end = $size - 1; header("Content-Type: video/mp4"); header('Accept-Ranges: 0-' . $length); if (isset($_SERVER['HTTP_RANGE'])) { $c_start = $start; $c_end = $end; list(, $range) = explode('=', $_SERVER['HTTP_RANGE'], 2); if (strpos($range, ',') !== false) { header('HTTP/1.1 416 Requested Range Not Satisfiable'); header('Content-Range: bytes ' . $start . Can someone please help me in setting up OAuth server and client implementation in PHP? Even after lots of googling I could only find very basic and raw examples which are very difficult to understand. Thanks in advance. There's probably an obvious reason but I can't seem to find it... I start with the $_POST array, received from a form: Code: [Select] array(9) { ["Name"]=> string(3) "KTN" ["SQLServer"]=> string(24) "10.6.11.20\VSQLI028,1433" ["Username"]=> string(2) "GF" ["Password"]=> string(2) "GF" ["MasterDB"]=> string(11) "GFMaster_KN" ["Version"]=> string(3) "4.9" ["Prod"]=> string(1) "1" ["Monitored"]=> string(1) "0" ["button"]=> string(38) "updateColumnName=EnvironmentID;Value=1" } I get the button value from the array, and unset the button array value. Code: [Select] function load_POST($name) { //returns value and removes it from $_POST array. returns NULL if not existing. $debug = 0; if ( $debug == 1 ) { $backtrace = backtrace(); echo __FUNCTION__."()"; echo " <i>called by ".basename($backtrace[1]['file'])."</i><br/>\n"; } $post = NULL; if( array_key_exists($name, $_POST) ) { $post = urldecode($_POST[$name]); if ( $debug == 1 ) { echo "post $name, value: $post<br/>\n"; } } else { if ( $debug == 1 ) { echo "post $name: doesn't exist<br/>\n"; } } unset($_POST[$name]); return $post; } $_POST is now: Code: [Select] array(8) { ["Name"]=> string(3) "KTN" ["SQLServer"]=> string(24) "10.6.11.20\VSQLI028,1433" ["Username"]=> string(2) "GF" ["Password"]=> string(2) "GF" ["MasterDB"]=> string(11) "GFMaster_KN" ["Version"]=> string(3) "4.9" ["Prod"]=> string(1) "1" ["Monitored"]=> string(1) "0" } Then I create the object to assign the values to: Code: [Select] object(Environment)#1 (9) { ["EnvironmentID"]=> NULL ["Name"]=> NULL ["SQLServer"]=> NULL ["Username"]=> NULL ["Password"]=> NULL ["MasterDB"]=> NULL ["Version"]=> NULL ["Prod"]=> int(0) ["Monitored"]=> int(0) } So far so good Then, for each remaining $_POST value, I update the Object accordingly: First one, parametername: Name, parameter: KTN Code: [Select] object(Environment)#1 (10) { ["EnvironmentID"]=> NULL ["Name"]=> string(3) "KTN" ["SQLServer"]=> NULL ["Username"]=> NULL ["Password"]=> NULL ["MasterDB"]=> NULL ["Version"]=> NULL ["Prod"]=> int(0) ["Monitored"]=> int(0) ["ColumnName=EnvironmentID;Value=1"]=> object(stdClass)#3 (1) { ["ColumnName"]=> string(1) "1" } } And there we have the problem, for some reason the button value is added to the object somehow... Any ideas? Thanks in advance! OVERVIEW: The code is about making call to the escreen web service using SOAP and Curl with client authentication required. Currently I am not getting any result only HTTP 403 and 500 errors. The call requires client authenticate cert to be on the callng site. I don't know how to do it here(pass the method name to call). 2. For client authentication they gave us three certs, one root cert, one intermediate cert and a client authentication cert PROTPLUSSOL_SSOpem(it was a .pfx file). Since we are on linux we converted them to pem . In curl calls I could not find way to how to include both the root cert and the intermediate cert ,so I combined them by making a new pem file and copying the intermediate cert and them the root cert and naming it authority.pem . I am not sure whether it works or not and would like your opinion. 3. For the current code Iam getting the error Error no : 77 Curl error: error setting certificate verify locations: CAfile: /home/pps/authority.pem CApath: /home/pps/ If I disable the curl error message,I am getting blank page with page title 403 - Forbidden. Access is denied. If I comment out the CURLOPT_CAPATH and CURLOPT_CAINFO lines it gives http 500 error page with the message as content and the following at the top. > HTTP/1.1 500 Internal Server Error. Cache-Control: private Content-Type: text/html Server: Microsoft-IIS/7.5 X-AspNet-Version: 1.1.4322 X-Powered-By: ASP.NET Date: Thu, 02 Sep 2010 14:46:38 GMT Content-Length: 1208 If I comment out as above and also CURLOPT_SSLCERT and CURLOPT_SSLCERTPASSWD it gives 403 error with the message as content. So I would request you to help me out by pointing out whats wrong with the current code. Thank you. I have a client and a server solution setup at the moment. We are currently creating an API that will be run on the clients end that will allow their clients to connect to them. On our end, we want to log the number of attempts are API is being used so that we may charge the clients appropriately. My question is this. How is the most efficient way of doing this? Do I call mysql_connect from the client and just shoot the insert log statements across the web. Should I create a php script on our end that looks for post/get input and takes the data and inserts it? What if the client can't connect to our server; should I cache the data and send it off all at once? Should I create a job that every hour shoots up x records API requests happened? Relatively confused at what angle I should be taking when approaching this. I want this to be scalable to a point where we can have thousands of requests an hour, and not horribly slow down apache/mysql running at either end (Specially if the server is talking with several clients). Hi y'all. It's been forever and a day since I've dealt with cookies, and I can't get through the cobwebs in my brain about them. I know that cookies have to be set before any output goes to the browser, but if I'm not mistaken, it's the same with sessions and sessions work in this situation. Unfortunately, the client needs cookies for integration with an existing piece of software.
Basically, what's happening is this: You load a page, click the 'login' button, which uses JQuery to change the display on the login screen from 'none' to 'block'. Use the newly-visible login form to enter username and password, which are passed via ajax to my login function. If the login is successful, I set the cookie variable and redirect the user to the protected page. However, despite the ajax reporting a successful login and redirecting the browser as expected, the check on the protected page is kicking the user back to the beginning because the cookie was never actually set.
FunctionsClass.php:
/** * Logs in the requesting user with the agent and email values supplied via AJAX. * @return string JSON-encoded array */ public function agentLogin(){ $ret['success'] = $this->_site->login($_POST['username'],$_POST['password']); $ret['location'] = '/protected-page'; print(json_encode($ret)); die(); }Site.php (that's $_site in FunctionsClass): /** * Logs in the agent. * Checks to see if the user is already logged in, if not, attempts to do so. * @param string $un username * @param string $pw password * @return boolean */ public function logIn($un, $pw){ if($this->isLoggedIn()){ return true; } return $this->logAgentIn($un,$pw); } /** * Check to see if the cookie set so we know if the user has logged in. * @return boolean */ public function isLoggedIn(){ // return !empty($_SESSION['mycheckvariable']); return !empty($_COOKIE['mycheckvariable']); } /** * Log the user in. * @param string $un username * @param string $pw password * @return boolean */ private function logAgentIn($un,$pw){ // $_SESSION['mycheckvariable']['email'] = 'me@notmyemail.com'; setcookie('mycheckvariable','me@notmyrealemail.com',time()+60*60*8,'/'); return true; }It's not as though I'm even actually checking a database - just trying to stub this out for client presentation. And, if I uncomment the two lines using sessions and comment out the cookies, it all works perfectly. I'm not at all sure what I'm missing and would very much appreciate some other eyes on this - any takers? I'm using WordPress, if that matters at all... Thanks in advance! I wish to create validation rules once which are used both on the client and on the server.
For instance, I will start off with the following PHP object:
stdClass Object ( [rules] => stdClass Object ( [email] => stdClass Object ( [required] => 1 [email] => 1 [remote] => stdClass Object ( [url] => check-email.php [type] => post [data] => stdClass Object ( [username] => function() {return $( '#username' ).val();} ) ) ) ) [messages] => stdClass Object ( [email] => stdClass Object ( [required] => an email is required ) ) )When the edit page is downloaded to the client, I will include this object in some format suitable to the client. The client will then use the jQuery Validation plugin (http://jqueryvalidation.org/) along with the validation object, and client side validate the page. When the form passes client side validation and is uploaded, PHP will use the same validation object to serverside validate the form (I have this part working as desired). My question is how should I pass this data to the client? Originally, I would just use PHP to write some JavaScript. exit('var myObj='.json_encode($myObj));Note that when I json_encode the object, the value of $myObj->rules->email->remote->data->username is a string with quotes around it, however, I can easily use PHP to strip these tags before sending it to the client. As Jacques1 pointed out in http://forums.phpfre...ascript-client/, I should never ever use PHP to generate JavaScript, and should use AJAX to download the JSON directly. I tried doing the later, but found that a callback function could not be included in the JSON. Please advise on the best way to accomplish this. Thank you

Now that I'm having to use the date.timezone setting in php.ini, how can I tell it to factor in DST, or do I now have to manually perform a calculation in my methods/functions to check and adjust? How and what would i need to do to make a timezone.php that would get the countries. Thanks Hi, I am trying to get the date and time that a particular table was last updated, which the code below does, but it doesn't seem to be putting it in the correct timezone, it is 5 hours behind, anyone know why this is? or how i can fix it? Thanks Code: [Select] <?php date_default_timezone_set('Europe/London'); $query = "SELECT UPDATE_TIME FROM information_schema.tables WHERE TABLE_SCHEMA = 'tffdb' AND TABLE_NAME = 'test_team_points'"; $result = mysql_query($query) or die(mysql_error()); $row = mysql_fetch_assoc($result); echo $row['UPDATE_TIME']; ?> How would I change the current timezone used within a php script? The method I usually use, date_default_timezone_set() is undefined on my webhost, so I am trying to find another way. Developing apps is great until I have to start dealing with blasted timezones. For some reason this aspect of it always does my head in. At the moment I'm storing all dates in the DB as GMT with the format Y-m-d H:i:s. I figure it's good to be consistent and store dates in GMT then convert to the users desired timezone. So I allow users to choose there timezone, based off the defined PHP timezones that can be used with the DateTimeZone class. My problem, however, arises with the whole syncing of times. Let's say I post something right now. The date gets stored in in the database as: 2012-04-14 02:35:49 Now I'm in GMT +10 (possibly the greatest of timezones ), so I've set my timezone in my settings as Australia/Melbourne and when displaying date/times locally I do something like this: Code: [Select] public static function local($user, $date, $format = 'F j, Y, h:ia') { $date = new DateTime($date); return $date->setTimezone(new DateTimeZone($user->timezone))->format($format); } So running the stored date above through my method gives me a date like this: April 14, 2012, 12:35pm Awesome. My question is: I noticed that on say, Twitter, when you change your timezone your tweet dates don't change. They remain as the date/time of my actual timezone, regardless of what I set it too. With my implementation however, if I change my timezone to GMT +12 (Fiji) my post is now posted at: April 14, 2012, 02:35pm So is what I'm doing right? My head has about had it. Thanks. instead of js alert displaying the timezone offset, i would like the content of get_time_zone_offset() to be used as a php variable.
<script type="text/javascript"> function get_time_zone_offset( ) { var current_date = new Date(); return -current_date.getTimezoneOffset() / 60; } alert("The local time zone is: GMT " + get_time_zone_offset()); </script> Using the attached code below I'm sending an HTML email using PHP. It works fine, except with Gmail. If the email is sent to a Gmail account the email contents are blank and sender is unknown. I've looked around and it seems there is some widespread issue but i haven't found an answer/solution. Any help or light shed on this would be great. <?PHP //lots of stuff before this including variable setting, which all are working properly $to = $email; $subject = 'Your claim is in process!'; $random_hash = md5(date('r', time())); $headers = "From: The Insurance Agency\r\nReply-To: info@XXXXXXXXXX.com"; $headers .= "\r\nContent-Type: multipart/alternative; boundary=\"PHP-alt-".$random_hash."\""; ob_start(); ?> --PHP-alt-<?php echo $random_hash; ?> Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Dear <?PHP echo $fname?>, Thank you for submitting your claim on our website.
