PHP - Was This A Php Issue Or An Html5 Drop Down Issue ?

Greetings =), seems i'm stumped again. lol

What I want to do is check to see if a row exists if it does assign the variable to the $deposit variable to $row['price_each']
If it does not exist, i want it to assign the variable $deposit = 0

Here is my code, I think I am doing something wrong, becuase it keeps giving me the undefined variable for $deposit, when the statment i wrote should make it work. I think my syntax is off, or my ==0 is in the wrong place.  I'm not too expierenced with php and i'm still learning.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have been using learning the pdo library. But I am really stuck on this one query. The above sql statement works if in phpadmin I get three results but for the life of me I can't get them with the code below. I have tried I am trying to return all columns in an array some thing like

Im trying to search through the read column and see if any of the rows are read
I echo $mail and it shows all the rows for the user. So im grabing the ones I want but now i dont know how to search through what I selected. Or is there a simplier way of having SQL do what im trying to do?

The $valuematch is working fine but the $valuepath won't they print_r correctly but when I run the script  and look at the source I find the option name shows nothing.

I am learning php and am attempting to use a remote smtp server to test the mail() command in a php after submitting an html form. I am using an apache server on a windows 7 machine.

Is there any way to alter the php.ini to use an external smtp server, such as smtp.gmail.com ? I cant seem to get it working.

ok, I thought I had this working but I guess not. Once I click the submit button the email goes but I need to be redirected to a web page named http://myserver/notification_sent.php

I edited the line:

When I am on them and I click a link that goes to /account-setting I get redirected to /u/account-settings which is not the correct path.

I don't have any php knowledge and am having a hard time trying to implement the following:

- a drupal node is getting a numeric parameter with the URL in the following form "http://the.url/?X=123"
- what I want is for the script to check if the value has been passed with the URL, then use it in a form... if the entered URL was "http://the.url" without the X variable, then use a default value of 321.

The first run of my for loop does not execute, but all after that works. I know I need to define my $strings before the for loop because they do not take effect until it has ran once and that is why it does not show the first run. But I don't completely understand how to solve the issue, and have tried everything to my knowledge.

What I have, is a php page that runs over 60 query's a visit, and has over 2000 visits a day. That thousands of query's, and I'm sure this can be simplified easily to lessen the load. I only need to update the data on the page every 12 hours.

So, what I'm thinking, is that it would be best to run the query based on time()(every 12 hours), and store that data in a .txt file. Then, the php file, instead of requesting the query over and over, it just extracts the data from the text file. Does this help me at all, or is it useless? is there a better method? Thanks! 

There has to be a simple solution for this problem that I am apparently too dense to figure out...

Say on a single page, I have code like this...

and then further down on the page, I have code that runs and produces a variable ($i) that is a number.  I then want to check to see if that number is 10 or higher, or not, (which I can handle doing ) and if it is 10 or higher, then I want to hide the "stuff" div that is further up on the page. 

What is the best way to do this?   It's like I need the code to run and then go back and add something to the "stuff" div to make it not show, if the variable is 10 or higher.

Any thoughts?  This has to be easy so I"m feeling particularly newbie tonight
