PHP - Mysql / Php - If/and/or Statements - Getting Confused
I'm updating some PHP/MySQL code and struggling to get it to work correctly. At the moment I have the code as follows:
if (strlen($number) < "9" AND $number1 <> "101"){
}
else if (strlen($number) > "14") {
}
else {
...........the rest of the code goes here to action after filtering out the above.
I want the first if command to match if the length is less than 9 characters long, and the $number1 is either 101 or (I want to add in 102). I've tried amending the first IF statement to read as follows, but that fails:
if (strlen($number) < "9" AND ($number1 <> "101") OR ($number1 <> "102")){
}
I'm expecting it to be something very straightforward, but I've looked at it for so long now I just cannot see it. Thanks in advance for any help.
Similar TutorialsSo I am trying to learn PDO and after some reading, I have found that you cannot use exec with select statements, however, if you are using a prepared statement, you can. However, PDO has a function just selecting the data, using PDO::query. So my question is, how do I know when is the proper used to use PDO::query or the prepared statement route? I have been able to duplicate the queries using both methods and obtain the same results. Is the prepared statement needed for sanitizing the data if I am selecting from user input and PDO:query used if I am only doing a general select where I explicitely state what I am selecting for in the SQL statement? I have done some research online about changing from mysql to mysqli but the changes I made seems to only cause issues with connecting to the database.
After many hours of changing the existing file using the research online, I've decided to start again and ask others if they would be ever so kind to help this noob out and point out which parts of the script needs to be changed.

I have a MYSQL Query and when I see the code, I think it would do what I want it to do, also so do my other friends, but it doesn't. What I'm trying to do is basically make a top 10 poster, and select and order the list by the person with the most posts in the table. The table has a field named user, which represents the username. So basically I'm trying to order it by the `user` with the most posts. The problem is that it only displays the first row in the table, which is id:1. I pull the site up in internet explorer 11 and using the emulation tools in developer options I go down each version and view the source code. There is never a change, but the backgrounds do stop displaying.
is there an extra step I am missing? Is the emulation mode not doing what I think it is? Should I setup a virtual machine with windows xp or find a windows xp system to test with?
