PHP - Storing Json.html Value (generated Within Jquery Code), In A Php $ Variable
I have a submit.php file that includes the following jQuery code: <script> [...] request.done(function( json ) { jQuery('input[name=thumbnail-url]').val(json.thumbnail_url); jQuery('input[name=job_title]').val(json.title); jQuery('textarea[name=htmlcode]').val(json.html); [...] </script> I need to remove jQuery('textarea[name=htmlcode]').val(json.html); and pass the "json.html" value into a PHP variable in another php file (functions.php). The code in the functions.php file is already there. The thing i need to do (and i am seriously struggling with it) is placing the value of json.html into a $phpvariable that i can then call from the function.php file. Do you need any more info for this issue? Thanks. Similar TutorialsOk I have a unique issue I have a decent sized database for a fix up and modify project I just landed. My problem is my client has a table with plain html, flash, javascript it in. Which generally speaking isn't to much a problem if I we're going the straight php route to get the data from the database. However I'm not so lucky. These people wish to have the element being built by me to use AJAX to give the site a "2.0" feel, which again to a point fine. So all this said and done, I am going using jQuery as my frame for the javascript. The landing page for the script is PHP it handles any potential user input checks before it works its way into the javascript variables to then use JSON through the javascript to another php file which in turn double checks the inputs just incase someone wants to go in to the source find the way to the file its gathering the data from an all else. Then based on the data forms its output. Which I don't know why Ive wasted my time explaining that, we all know how JSON works in concept at least. My issue with this all is, a single column or 2 but ill stick with just the one for now... with these people having stored plain html, javascript, and object tags for flash in the column without any htmlspecialchars or stripslash's or really any security per say in mind. In other words I can go into any column and just copy and paste the code and have it work in an HTML file as if it were typed out for use in HTML alone. So with that, my JSON requests are failing due to the extra quotes, double quotes, slashes, and all else. What I am trying to figure out is, what is my best method to phrase the output of the DB so its friendly for for the JSON request yet can be repieced back together via javascript/jquery. Any takers on that idea? This is more of a database architect question.
I am building a CMS for website development. I am ready to use it for the first time on one of my clients. Now, my issue is is how to set up some or one of my table(s) for some areas that my client wants to be able to change in the admin section.
In their website on the front page, I put together this nice block slider. Its 6 blocks with text, a background image and nice effects. At first it was always going to be static, which was no issue at all, but later they came to me and asked if they could be able to change words in the boxes themselves in the admin section..
Of course this can be easily done by creating a table that is associated with this home page block thing and each row in the table will correspond to one of the blocks on the home page.
But I believe there might be an easier way to store this type of data without having to create another table for every feature the client wants to edit, for example they also want to be able to edit a slider on another page.
The WordPress database then came into my mind and how they store most of their data as JSON. So I was then thinking of creating a table named 'modules' for examples with three columns (id, title, data). Then inside the data column store the editable fields as a JSON string object.
For example a row could like like :
1, "Front Page Box Slider", {"slider-home" : [ {"data" : "value", "img_1", "value1"}, {"data" : "value", "img_2", "value2"} ]}
I've been doing a bit of research on this and people have just been saying, never do this if you do want your data to be searched through, which I don't.
Can anyone tell me why or why not I should do this, or maybe a better solution to my problem?
Thank you
Edited by carlosmoreeira, 17 September 2014 - 07:37 PM. Hi, I am working on a project to help me learn more about JSON and JQuery and how they interact. I am able to pull in my JSON data fine and it displays in an HTML table. What isn't working is I want the tables rows to be striped, and normally this works, but I didn't know if it isn't working b/c it is AJAX or if I have something wrong with my JQuery. Also, I was hoping to add a reference to an image path in the JSON file as well, but wasn't sure how that is done or if it could be done at the JSON level.
Here is my code that I am working on:
<!DOCTYPE html> <html lang="en"> <head> <meta charset="utf-8" /> <title>JSON Presidents</title> <style type="text/css"> body{ font-family:arial, helvetica, sans-serif; text-align:center; width:100%; margin:200px 0 0 0; } #PresidentInfo{ width:75%; margin:0 auto; } table#data{ width:100%; } table#data th{ background:#333; color:#fff; text-align:center; text-shadow:1px 1px 1px rgba(0,0,0,1); padding:5px; } table#data td{ border:1px solid #333; border-collapse:collapse; padding:10px; margin:0 5px 0 5px; text-align:center; } .odd { background: #ccc; } </style> </head> <body> <div id="PresidentInfo"> </div> <script src="http://code.jquery.com/jquery-1.7.1.min.js"></script> <script> (function ($) { $(document).ready (function(){ $("tr:odd").addClass("odd"); }); }); })(jQuery); </script> <script> $.getJSON('data.json', function(data) { var output="<table id='data'><tr><th>First Name:</th><th>Last Name:</th><th>Month of Inauguration:</th><th>Year of Inauguration:</th></tr>"; for (var i in data.Presidents) { output+="<tr><td>" + data.Presidents[i].firstName + "</td><td>" + data.Presidents[i].lastName + "</td><td>" + data.Presidents[i].YearInauguratedPresident.month + "</td><td>" + data.Presidents[i].YearInauguratedPresident.year + "</td></tr>"; } output+="</tr></table>"; document.getElementById("PresidentInfo").innerHTML=output; }); </script> </body> </html> {"Presidents":[ { "firstName":"Barack", "lastName":"Obama", "YearInauguratedPresident": { "month":"January", "day":20, "year":2009 } }, { "firstName":"George W", "lastName":"Bush", "YearInauguratedPresident": { "month":"January", "day":20, "year":2001 } }, { "firstName":"Bill", "lastName":"Clinton", "YearInauguratedPresident": { "month":"January", "day":20, "year":1993 } }, { "firstName":"George", "lastName":"H.W Bush", "YearInauguratedPresident": { "month":"January", "day":20, "year":1989 } } ]} <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <head> <script> $(document).ready(function() { if($("#getPIN").click(function(){ <?php $char = 'abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVW XYZ1234567890'; $generated_password = substr(str_shuffle($char), 0, 10); ?> var genNumber; $("#txtpin").val() = genNumber; return false; })); }); </script> </head> <body> <input type = "text" name = "txtpin" id = "txtpin" value = ""> <input type = "button" name = "getPIN" id = "getPIN" value = "getPIN"> </body> </html> Hey you guys need your help... I have the JQuery working but not the PHP?! here is a link to what I have at the moment: http://www.mypubspace.com/dashnew/index.html thanks Hey all, I'm almost too embarrased to post this as I'm sure it is very simple - but for the life of me I can't get this to work. I am a complete newbie to PHP so please bear with me.. What I'm trying to do is to write a program that will go on to calculate a user's Body Mass Index (BMI) based on user inputted data of height and weight. However, I want to be able to accept heights and weights in a number of different units for maximum ease of use. I am trying to write some PHP code that will handle this , the main goal is to convert everything into 'cm' and 'kg' before going on and doing the simple BMI calculation later on. However I am stuck at this point: I have a text field for users to input their weight into. This is immediately followed by two radio buttons for the user to select which units they are inputting their weight in (kilograms or pounds). A third option to input their weight is given after this for those wishing to input their weight in 'stones and pounds'. My problem is as follows: I can't get my code to recognise which radio button (either 'kg' or 'lbs') has been pressed. What should happen is that my code can tell something has been inputted in the text box AND which of the radio buttons has been selected. From this it does one of the two; for the kilogram option it leaves the value as it is, but if the weight has been inputted in pounds (and the 'lbs' radio button selected) then I want the code to convert this into kilos by multiplying by 0.4535. Here is what I have so far (sorry its a bit messy - like i say I am a newbie): <?php //convert.php $ft = $cm = $inches = $weight = $stones =$pounds = $kilos = $units = ""; if(isset($_POST['cm'])) $cm = sanitizeString($_POST['cm']); if(isset($_POST['ft'])) $ft = sanitizeString($_POST['ft']); if(isset($_POST['inches'])) $inches = sanitizeString($_POST['inches']); if(isset($_POST['weight'])) $weight = sanitizeString($_POST['weight']); if(isset($_POST['stones'])) $stones = sanitizeString($_POST['stones']); if(isset($_POST['pounds'])) $pounds = sanitizeString($_POST['pounds']); if(isset($_POST['kilos'])) $kilos = sanitizeString($_POST['kilos']); if(isset($_POST['units'])) $units = sanitizeString($_POST['units']); if ($ft != '') { $height = intval(($ft * 30.48) + ($inches * 2.54)); $out = "you are $height cm tall"; } elseif($cm != '') { $height = intval($cm); $out = "you are $height cm tall"; } else $out = ""; if ($stones != '') { $kilos = intval((($stones * 14) + $pounds) * 0.45359237); $out2 = "you weigh $kilos Kg"; } elseif($weight != '' AND $units = "kg") { $kilos = $weight; $out2 = "you weigh $kilos Kg"; } elseif($weight != '' AND $units = "lbs") { $kilos = ($weight * 0.45359237); $out2 = "you weigh $kilos Kg"; } else $out2 = ""; echo <<<_END <html><head><title>Height & Weight Converter</title> </head><body><pre> Please enter your details below <b>$out$out2</b> <form method="post" action="convert.php"> Height: <input type="text" name="cm" size="3"> cm OR <input type="text" name="ft" size="1">ft <input type="text" name="inches" size="2">inches Weight: <input type="text" name="weight" size="4" /> Kg<input type="radio" name="units" value="kg" /> lbs<input type="radio" name="units" value="lbs" /> OR <input type="text" name="stones" size="2">stone <input type="text" name="pounds" size="2">pounds <input type="submit" value="Submit" /> </form></pre></body></html> _END; function sanitizeString($var) { $var = stripslashes($var); $var = htmlentities($var); $var = strip_tags($var); return $var; } ?> hey all so I have this bit down: Code: [Select] $query="SELECT `2010 Region Code` AS codes FROM locations"; $results = mysql_query($query); $options=""; $options = "<select location='codes'>"; while($nt=mysql_fetch_assoc($results)) { $thing=$nt["codes"]; $options.="\r\n<option value ='{$nt['codes']}'> {$nt['codes']}</option>"; } $options .="\r\n</select>"; echo $options; what I'm trying to do is grab the selection from the drop down and display it as a table (the sql query would be extended should we manage to figure this one out I've tried Code: [Select] echo"<form name='LOCATIONS' action='".$_SERVER['PHP_SELF']."' target='iframe' method='post'>"; any ideas? Hi everyone, first of all let me thank you for this wonderful forum I come back here always when i need help... i'm trying to learn so soon i hope, i'll be helping others... I have a question for now, i have a code which goes like this: Code: [Select] <? $b = time (); $date1 =date( "Y-m-d;h:i:s" , mktime(date("h")+6, date("i"), date("s"), date("m") , date("d"), date("Y"))); $str_time = "&receivedtimestamp="; $str_msg = "&msg=bkt"; $str_from = "from="; ?> <a href="http://testext.i-movo.com/api/receivesms.aspx?<?echo $str_from;?><?=$getuser[0]['phone'];?><?echo $str_time;?><?echo $date1;?><?echo $str_msg;?>">Get a Cupon</a> What i need is that when the URL is generated, one of those variables to be hidden, for example the $str_from to be in the link but not visible... I must tell you that the link on the Get Cupon goes to an external link so i don't know if i can do it with .httpaccess as i've heard... Quote i want to store a value from a database and use it as variable in php code can anyone help me out in this code i want to store value of copies in a php variable and want that it should be more than 0 (zero) for furthur calculations $update_book="update book set copies=copies-1 where bookid='$bookid'"; $result=mysql_query($update_book,$linkID1); if($result) { print "<html><body background=\"header.jpg\"> <p>book successfully subtracted from database</p></body></html>"; } else { print "<html><body background=\"header.jpg\"> <p>problem occured</p></body></html>"; } This seems really straight forward but I can't figure out why it's happening. As a part of an account registration script, I'm randomly generating a password using a function called, generatePassword($length,$strength); I hash the password (md5) before putting it in the database but I also email the non-hashed version to the user. My problem is that each time I call the variable, it generates a new password so the one in the database does not match the one received by the user, $user_password_plain = generatePassword($length,$strength); $user_password = md5($user_password_plain); Is there a different way to store the variable so that I can access it later in the script and it will be the same? I tried using a session variable but that didn't seem to work either. Thanks! Hi Guys. I need your help. Is it possible to store results from sql query as a variable. I am basically doing a few joins to get this result and I wanted to know if this was possible. I am generating a few different reports through mysql querys and displaying tables. I have a mail script that stores html code into a variable called $message. How can I store all of my queried data into the variable $message? Example of one of the three tables I am displaying and I am wanting to store this whole table into the variable $message. Code: [Select] echo"<h3>Margin Less than 15% for $datequery</h3>"; echo"<table border=1 cellpadding=3><tr><td><center><b>Invoice Number</b></center></td><td><center><b>Invoice Date</b></center></td><td><center><b>Customer Number</b></center></td><td><center><b>Company</b></center></td><td><center><b>Margin</b></center></td></tr>"; while($row = mysql_fetch_array($result, MYSQL_ASSOC)) { $invoice=$row['INVNO']; $invoicedate=$row['INVDTE']; $customernumber=$row['CUSTNO']; $company=$row['COMPANY']; $invoicetotal=$row['ITOTAL']; $invoicecost=$row['ICOST']; @$ABOVE30= @($invoicecost * 100) / $invoicetotal; @$FINAL30=100 - $ABOVE30; $FINAL30=number_format($FINAL30, 2, '.', ''); IF($FINAL30<="15") { echo "<tr><td><center>$invoice</center></td><td><center>$invoicedate</center></td><td><center>$customernumber</center></td><td><center>$company</center></td><td><center>$FINAL30%</center></td></tr>"; } } echo"</table><hr />"; Hopefully someone can help, firstly i am a newbie at php coding but keen to learn more.
Here is my problem
The database is built correctly with all the information i need, the first part is the dropdown menu which you select a car, next you choose a month and mileage - from there it shall show you the correct price for each one. There is columns for each price, mileage and months i just need to figure out how best to start this thing.
I first started by this
$query = "SELECT DISTINCT Full_Description FROM import"; I have a series of echo statements containing html and php elements. Is it possible to somehow store the following statements in one variable by concatenating and later print that variable. The variable should print out the statements as it is printing now. Thanks Anes Hi there, I am working on a PHP web form and I have a very simple situation I guess, I have a variable named: $MyVal When I do print_r($MyVal); To see whats inside, I get: SimpleXMLElement Object ( [0] => 8.23 ) Now I am assigning this variable into a session variable so that I can do calculations with it. So I assign: $_SESSION['MySesVal'] = $MyVal; But after assigning to session variable, when I do my calculations: $finalValue = $_SESSION['MySesVal'] * 4; I get 0. So is it because the actual $MyVal variable has some XML stuff as: SimpleXMLElement Object ( [0] => 8.23 ) So what is the right way to properly assign $MyVal variable to a session variable to do calculations. Please reply. All comments and feedbacks are always welcome. Thank you! Hi!
I have this code above:
// Submit Data to ncbi. // Sends form's data to classController.php function NCBI_submit_data() { $formData = $('#blastx_form').serialize(); $php_method = 'ncbi_request'; $finalData = $formData + "&php_method=" + $php_method; $aR = ajaxReq('POST','../../classes/classController.php',$finalData,'json'); console.log($aR); } // General Ajax function function ajaxReq($method,$url,$data,$dataType) { $.ajax({ type: $method, url: $url, async: 'false', data: $data, dataType: $dataType, success: function(json, textStatus, jqXHR) { return json; }, error: function(jqXHR, textStatus, errorThrown) { console.log('Ajax call error: '+jqXHR.status+' '+errorThrown) } }); }Server returns a json object and i want to save it in aR variable. But console.log($aR); returns undefined Any idea on how to fix it ? My learning curve to this point in using php with MySql databases is automatically generated code within Dreamweaver. However, I am sure that it is adding a lot more code than I actually need and I sometimes have 5 or more queries all on one page that are just all the same except that each one has a different ID to reference. Presumably the best way to do this would be with one query with grouping but as that is still on my list of things to understand I am hoping to tidy things up myself first. For example, two of the queries that I have on one page (http://www.margate-fc.com/content/1st_team/squad.php) are Code: [Select] <?php if (!function_exists("GetSQLValueString")) { function GetSQLValueString($theValue, $theType, $theDefinedValue = "", $theNotDefinedValue = "") { if (PHP_VERSION < 6) { $theValue = get_magic_quotes_gpc() ? stripslashes($theValue) : $theValue; } $theValue = function_exists("mysql_real_escape_string") ? mysql_real_escape_string($theValue) : mysql_escape_string($theValue); switch ($theType) { case "text": $theValue = ($theValue != "") ? Would it work to have all of it between one set of PHP tags with the duplicated code there just once? If so would it simply mean copying everything below '$currentPage = $_SERVER["PHP_SELF"];' in the second query and pasting it just before the '?>' in the first. Also, if anyone is an expert with grouping, I would be more than open to suggestions about setting the page up that way. My head says that it would need a repeat region inside a repeat region to get the data separated the way I want it but my head doesn't often make sense! Thanks in advance Steve Hi, I have a connection set up to an API using a PHP script - the API sends back data in JSON format, and if I capture it and echo it, it displays in extremely unfriendly format on the screen. I've tried to find a way to convert this data into readable format, ideally in a HTML table, but although there are articles on converting manually inputted JSON data into a HTML table using Javascript, I can't find a way to do it from a PHP variable. This is what I have so far: if ($_POST['getcompany']) { $companyname = $_POST['_Name']; $ch = curl_init(); $data_array2 = array( 'token' => $token ); $make_call2 = json_encode($data_array2); //echo 'Token is '.$token; $token2 = substr($token, 14); $token3 = substr($token2, 0, -3); //echo 'Token 2 is '.$token3; //echo 'Company Name is '.$companyname; //curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_GET, 1); //curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_POSTFIELDS, $make_call2); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_HTTPHEADER, array('Content-Type: application/json','Authorization: '.$token3.'')); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_RETURNTRANSFER, true); curl_setopt($ch, CURLOPT_URL, 'https://connectionurl?countries=GB&name='.$companyname); //Execute the request $result = curl_exec($ch); echo 'Companies: '.$result; //This displays the data provided by the search, but is in JSON format
So I need a way to get the data held in $result, into a HTML table. Any idea how I can do this? |
