PHP - Adding Multiple Rows Into Databse Incrementing One Field.

I want to echo out a few subcategories per main category.
It should be a maximum of 20 entries per column

At this stage I have the following... It echo's the results out in 4 columns and not what I want.
Any suggestions?

I have a simple database set up for story awards given out by different groups.  Here are some of the fields I'm using:

Author
Title
Year
Summary

Some of the rows are nearly identical with the same Author and Title, but sometimes a different year or or others have a Summary for the story where otherwise it would be empty for a different row.  The problem I'm having is I want to fetch the summary of the story from all rows where the Author and Title are identical.  Currently the code is fetching a random row with the same Author and Title, but won't show the Summary if that specific row doesn't have the summary filled in (and where other rows of nearly identical information would have the summary).

Here's an example of nearly identical rows:

'Boring Title', 'Boring Author', '', '2012'
'Boring Title', 'Boring Author', 'Boring Summary', '2012'

How would I go about fetching all rows with the identical Author and Title and then showing the Summary even if only one of those rows has information in the Summary field?  Much obliged for any help.

Hi,   I am developing a web application which will be comprised of three columns: (1) Search form, (2) Image gallery, (3) Image details. The site is going to be more like html framesets, but research reveals that framesets are not favourable due to many reasons. I however found an alternative that I want to use instead of html framesets http://www.ironspide...smartframes.htm   I thought it would be easy for me to add rows which should serve as a page header, but I was wrong. I been trying to figure how first read a Google docs CSV (live) to be shown as a custom HTML.

The CSV have 50 lines and each line have 15 cells.

But what i would need is to view only the row that have the value "(T01S)" in the first cell "A2" or first "$line_of_text[0]" and the header (first line).

I was thinking about just to show a "desired_line" would not help me as if i add a line in the middle many pages would show the wrong line.

Also is it any easy way to show one full line except the first cell? So i can have a custom code on that field? And also so i do not need every pages code if i add more fields?

After many hours of searching i would be very happy for any kind of help!

I want to edit these fields based on 'rp_user_id' field. I have to show them and update them to database. How. Please help me.

I am running a query to get a certain student's quiz results from all attempts and print one after the other in a simple table for now. The student is designated by an email address. I need results from all of the rows containing this particular email. The issue I think I am having is that when I use "WHERE" and specify an email address that exists many times in the table it isn't storing the variable correctly. Here is code below that I cannot get working right.

When I try to print these variables as a test to see if they are working I get nothing. No errors either. I have checked all names, spellings, and capitalization about 5 times. Thanks for looking at it.

The code below kind of works, I don't get any errors. It has 2 problems; it only inserts the second row of data I get nothing for the first row. It also does not insert the 4id correctly I just get 1 instead of the actually user id number.

I tried seraching, but I'm not sure what exactly to search for. Here's what I need to do, and any push in the right direction would be great:

I have a PHP form, with the Following:

Text Box: Student ID
Checkboxes for Activities

What I need to do is somehow loop through and make a new row for each activity. Example, if I entered Student ID 105 and Activities are Basketball, Baseball, and Chess Team, I need three different rows in the database each listing the individual activity and the student ID.

Any suggestions? I know how to do this if it was one entry (radio buttons) but want to be able to enter multiple rows at a time. Thanks!

hey can someone advice me on how to make my update script update multiple rows.

here's what i've got so far:

When I try this I get nothing, no changes. In the table there is 3 distinct rideNames each have more than 20 rows. Is there a way using the drop down box and ext field like i Have to update all of the distinct rideNames in the table?

Hi, I have a row called code in mysql data base now what I want to do is something like this

$rand=rand(1111,9999);

$code=mysql_query("UPDATE member SET code='$rand' WHERE clan_id='1'");

At the moment its updating the code row with the same random number. What I want to achieve is a unique number for each member.

For instance

Currently if the $rand=1289 lets suppose

Every code row will become 1289  I want the code rows to be different to each other. I tried a few things up my sleeve but no luck. How can i do this? thanks any help much appreciated.
