PHP - Getting Percentage Of Calculated Fields
Hello In my query i have x activities, then i have the count of how many still to be executed, i need to get the percentage of the total executed I mean i have 200 activities, 20 have been executed, so i want to have 10% done My query is this one but missing the percentage field

any help? Similar TutorialsEarlier I posted about how to best deal with a calculated field in MySQL and was advised not to store the value in the database. So, I took my calculated value out of the tables. I can select based on the calculated value

Is there a better way? To further complicate things, I loop through 5 score/cutoff date pairs (so that a lower score gets reboxed faster than a higher score). I imagine it would be more efficient to try to combine it all into a single query.

Hi to All, I am performing calculation which i echo it in the input form to insert it to DB table The calculation works fine when i submit the form but the it does not correct calculation to the DB. it seems that the isert to database is done before the calculation and I can't figure a way around it. Because i'm submitting to the same page, the calculation populate in the input form correctly but it insert Zero to the database table instead of correct calculation populated in the input field to DB table You could see from the line 114 to 116 that, i'm performing some calculations and echo it at line 128 and line 128 in the input form value field. Please any help on how to do this...All the function in the code is in another file and it works fine...so the only program is that the calculated value is not inserted as expected Here is the code

Thank you in advance... here is my situation, I have a form with three (3) fields in it, the 'student name' is unlimited textfield with an "add more" button to it and I have two select fields ('number of shirts' and 'trophies') that depend on the number of entries for 'student name'...
I want to create the select fields based on this math, for as many 'student name' entries:
1- i want to have the select form for 'number of shirts' to be 0 up to that number... so if there are 6 'student name' entries, the select options will be 0,1,3,4,5,6,7
2- I want to have the select form for 'trophies' to be 5 'student name' entries to 1 'trophies', for example if there are 6 'student name' entries, the select options will be 0,1... if there are 13 entries, options will be 0,1,2... So if there are less than 5 'student name' entries, the select field will not show (hidden)
of course if there are no 'student name' entries, these two fields won't show up (hidden)
let me know if that make sense and ANY help or directions will be GREATLY APPRECIATED.

I have made a 'health bar' for a simple browser game i have been working on.
I want to use a background image to fill the health bar, so if for example, the player had full health, the health bar image width would be 100%
is it possible to say set, the characters max health and the characters actual health and work it out as a percentage so i can stretch the image width as far as it needs to go?
sorry if i haven't been too clear, my understanding of maths is not so good.

I basically want a function that takes a parameter which is a percentage chance of the functioning returning true.
A user can move from tier 1->10 and at tier 1 there's a 70% chance to move to tier 2, from tier 2 there's a slightly less chance to move up, and so on.
I tried with the following piece of code:

The above code makes logical sense to me:
1. Pick a random number between 1 and 100.
2. If that number is less than or equal to the percentage, then we passed (example, if the random number is less than or equal to 70.. there must be a 70% chance of this?)
This however does not seem to work, in fact it appears that when simulating a roll, 70% fails at the very first step (where there is a 70% chance of winning..)
To actually make it to tier 10, has yet to be accomplished, so by simulating this with unlimited attempts for 120 seconds straight doesn't seem to "win".
I tried (just for fun) and change the if-statement so:
if ($number >= $winnerPercentage)
This seems to be working quite well, as the simulator quickly reaches tier 10 this way.
Any suggestions to code changes, or can someone explain why it is working way better when exchanging less than with greater than?
Hmm, not quite sure how to do this one... If i have lots of strings saved in a mysql table and one was... "A man and a dog took a nice walk in the park" If a user then wanted to input another string into the table, but i wanted to check the new string was at least 5% different to all other in the table, how would i about doing this? Is it possible to do this via mysql, or would i have to pull out all the strings into a php array and process it that way... somehow? My idea was to post my form fields apart from the "cost" to a PHP script, then get PHP to grab the total from the database and dump the value in cost field and send it along with the other posted values. So really, is there anyway to get PHP to process a form data in a hidden enviroment, so my payment form URL is something like process.php and then process.php on my server deals with the sending of the paypal form data, but in a way that the user cannot see this data, so they basically never get to see the paypal form and any of its contents. Hopefully that kind of makes sense I have tried so many ideas, but cannot seem to find a solution, although when I do, hopefully the same method can be used on all my payment forms. Thanks tons in advance Scenario: each row contains an ID, title, description, price, and up to 5 images. There are not always 5 images stored in each row. The images are stored as a file path which is then pulled out of the DB and used to display an image via HTML. I need to do some sort of loop/check that looks at the contents of a particular row (actually all rows in this particular table) and then decide how many times to loop through the images to display them all correctly on the webpage. However if you delete rows 3, 4 and 5 and submit the page shows a value of 0.00 in the total column on rows 3, 4 and 5. How do i get this value removed so it is blank same as the rest ?

Hi, I'm very new to php. just wrote my first insert script which works great. Now when my script has run it sends you to the thank you page. It also sends username through a post. Now I'm trying to display Dear <? username ?> But i cant get it working. can anyone help?
