PHP - Display Retrieved Db Data In A Form
Before I pull my hair out, can I:
form1.html Retrieve 1 record, 5 columns from the db Display that data in a form Allow the user to change any of the column data on the form Use form action update.php, method post update.php use $_POST to capture variables update db My main concern is if the retrieved data will be displayed on the form. It's all technically working but the data is written to the screen from left to right as follows (where the top row is the heading and the second row is the data retrieved from the database in an edit box.): First Name | Last Name | <David> | <Beckham> | I have tons of fields (but only have firstname/lastname in the script for now), so the headings scroll left to right on the screen and I find it really annoying. However, when a mistake in the form occurs, all the data the user has entered are disappeared! I want the data to keep appearing so that the user does not start over again to fill the form. THIRD: When the erro message is displayed to notify the user that he made a mistake when submitting the form, the message is displaying on the top of the page. I want it to appear below each respective field. How to do that? In JQuery it is simple, but in PHP, I am confusing! Hey--New to the forum, and php. I have a drop-down list populated by a MySQL database. Submitting that selection retrieves php scripts which I run using eval(). One of them is a form. The scripts evaluate fine, but when I submit the second form, it disappears and I get a resource id where the "result" script was. The resource ids change between 3 and 4 when I refresh the page. I want the form data to be 1) stored into a mysql database AND after storing said data, 2) email the same data to our sales department. 1) The form data DOES get stored into mysql database (except for the first two fields, for some weird reason) 2) I added a "mail" section to the php file that stores the data into the database, but it is not working correctly. I have stripped the email portion down to sending just one of the fields in the "message" to make it easier for troubleshooting I have included here, both the form section of the html file, and the formdata.php file that processes the data for your analysis. I am relatively new to php so there are going to be some issues with security, but I can work on those after I get the store & email process to work correctly. Please review my code and see if anyone can be of assistance. I looked through the forums and couldn't find another issue that was the same as mine. The user may leave a comment at the bottom of the recipe page if she wishes to. The comment would be recorded in a mysql table and be displayed along with other comments for this particular recipe. I have managed to find, retrieve and save a file using CURL. But I am having to hard code the file extension, is there a way to find the file extension automatically? (it seems the file extension isn't within the download URL)
(also, is there a way of getting the file name so I can save it as the same filename - that would be great)

The form and program actually work for its intended function, but I am trying to enhance the user experience by preventing customers from having to reenter all of their data should there be a problem with any of the data submitted. I have been able to do that with the contact form portion, but what I am having trouble with is the portion which has as many as 400 possible entries. So, in a nutshell, if the customers contact data is incomplete or in error, the form will ask them to return to the page and correct things. Any ideas? Hello. What I have created is a menu with links. The links will display content on the page from a database. I have the links with id displayed, but nothing is displayed when the link is clicks. I have seen isset() and $_GET used but not a form and I don't know how to change the code to allow the display of data using ID. My site is local, and I am using XAMPP. The database connections work. This is my code:
