PHP - Check What Database Servers Are Available?

Hello. I want to check if an e-mail address is stored into a database. I've found this type of code:

I'm trying to get a nickname system working for a little project, but I've run into a problem.

This code that I wrote here gets the users nickname from their username:

But the problem is, if the user doesn't have a nickname then it just turns up blank. How can I check if the output of $nickname is blank and if it is then just return their normal name ($user)

I have a set of 26 checkboxes that are stored in an array. The below code dumps the comma separated array values into a single record column.

This works great! But my needs go past this. The record can be edited. So I need to get the values back out of the database and populate the correct check boxes for editing.

I am having a problem getting these checkboxes repopulated. I think that a way to do this is to:

Get the values out of the database in a array
Compare the values the list of all possible values.
Check the boxes of the values confirmed to be there.

I didn't build the application so I need help to work through this problem.

I'm creating a game where 2 people, on separate computers can battle each other. I'm doing it turn-based, like Final Fantasy but I came across a problem, how do I check if the other person has ended their turn?

I was thinking that I would have an area in my database that would be true/false if it was their turn. So if the first person ends their turn, their 'turn' becomes false in the database, but how, on the other users computer, do I constantly check if the 'turn' has become false so that they may now play without having to keep updating the browser.

Or is their a better way to do something like this?

I am building a system where people are able to choose a food menu, they can modify each dish if needed and then say how many of each item they need for the order.

So when they pick the breakfast menu, it selects all starters, mains and desserts.  Should something need to be edited (sausages changed to vegitarian sausages) the user should be able to overtype what has been populated from the select statement)

When the form is submitted, the order needs to be linked to the current job which is in a field ssm_job.job_id but the changes to the menu items need to be stored somewhere for the current order only.  This obviously needs to be accessile later so further changes can be made if needed.  I am not sure of the best way to go about this as i am trying not to save every item in another database (just trying to be tidy)

Any advise on this would be greatly appreciated.

I embed YouTube videos on my site.   The problem is, the videos often get deleted by the user, which means that the videos obviously become unavailable on my site.   This happens often, which means that I regularly have to look through my site, find unavailable videos and delete them.   I am looking for an automated way of doing this.   Here's what I've got so far:

The code's very slow and doesn't work. It produces a list of available videos and then stops when it finds one that is unavailable. The problem is, the video that it says is unavailable is usually available, which means that it's getting it wrong.   Is there a faster, more accurate way of doing it?   Basically, I want a fast and accurate way of checking the availability of the thousands of videos in my database and I want to produce a list of the ones that are unavailable.

I've got a website for an event, each team have their details on a page which are recalled from a SQl database.

But I'm wanting to create a password input box for each team, so when they enter the correct password they are taken to a page containing forms where they can edit the team details.

I have the below code (needs to be sanitized for SQL injection - i know   ).  Submitting to a MYSQL database.  I wish to check on form submit if the users email address already exists, and if so display a simple error message (even just a windows error message) stating "the email address you have entered already exists".

I don't really know where to start with this, or what the code should look like, so any help and direction would be massively appreciated.  All i do know, is the email column is set to unique, and when i attempt to submit using an email i know exists the code appears to run successfully without spitting out any errors (i.e. the web url changes to the below php code) but the table doesn't update (which is correct).  I just don't know how to then return the user to the form (preferably with all their info still entered) when this happens along with a nice error message...

Now this all works fine, I just need it to check the actual nodeValue (anchor text as well) meaning check this:

There is a mysql table called "allowed_anchors" with 2 rows "id" and "anchor"

I need it to check if the nodeValue matches 1 of the allowed_anchors from the table.

If anyone knows how I can do this that would be very great i have been trying to figure it out for hours with no luck.

Hi im new to php and I need help making webpage that queries a mysql database based on a 3 check boxes and displays results on the same page or on another page. The table being queried has 4 columns, name, gps, wifi, bluetooth. So for example a row in the table would be like, samsung galaxy s2, yes, yes, yes. The idea is for it to be a website that will display phones according to their features.

So the idea is depending on if the boxes were ticked the samsung galaxy would be displayed as a result. So i need some help understanding how to make this.

I have a login file where a user goes to a db based on the dbtype selected.
Now
$dbtype1 links to a db on Server 1 ( that is the server on which this script is running and
$dbtype2 links to a db on Server 2

I created a connection-link file connectlink.php as under but  while $dbtype1 works without a problem  , $dbtype2 gives me an error 'no access to db' and user dbun1@localhost not found on db1.db .

What am I missing in the connectlink.php file please ? Thanks

Hi All,

I created a website which runs perfectly on one server but now I transferred the website to another server I get all kinds of errors like,
Undefined variables and so on. How is this possible. I thought it was all in the code.

I am trying to transfer some data from one Servers DB to a new server with cleaner tables. When i run my code the transfer seems to be working but the script just keeps running and never give the desired responses. First it collects the data (for testing i limited results by 1) then checks to see if the app is in the new DB, if so then it updates its contents. If not then it adds it. It seems to work for both updates and inserts but i must still be missing something. Thanks for any help.

Hello everybody!   I'm here today with a mystery i can't solve... The problem i'm having is that i need to be able to transfer mysql data from one server to another one.
