PHP - Php Mysql Script Displaying Junk Characters On Rhel 4.4 Web Server.

I have been working on a blog program with a tag system. When I add tags and ask to display them to a certain webpage they all appear on my WAMP environment but not my live server. Any thoughts as to why this might be? Here is the code needed to display the tags. I am not sure if maybe live servers have restrictions that might be stopping it from displaying.    This is on the main page to display the tags.

The "tags" database is structured like so  id, name   The "blog_post_tags" is structured like so,   blog_post_id, tag_id       On the WAMP server it returns all of tags while the live server only returns the first one. Any suggestions on what is going on? If you need any other info please let me know.

How do I convert accented characters etc into their code form so I can put them into my database? I have tried everything I can think of like htmlentities, htmlspecialchars, url_decode etc and nothing seems to work!

I am storing content in a table with different fields for different languages, e.g. polish, spanish etc.
I can use the following function:

Which replaces accented chars with their unaccented counterparts but it doesn't work 100% of the time and isn't really what I want because I'd like to have the accented chars as they will be used on different language sites.

1 - I am using phpmailer to send an email to a people without defining the $headers = 'From:" , so the From section of the email is showing default server aekcom@xen​on.sfdns.ne​t , the email didn't go to Junk box, I am so happy.

2 - Then I apply $headers .= 'From: Pflik <admin@pflik.com>'; on the php mailer now. The email go to Junk box now. I am sad.

My question : How do I change the default email server of my hosting aekcom@xen​on.sfdns.ne​t into admin@pflik.com ? If I can change it, then the email won't go to junk box anymore.

I am having trouble with a mysql regexp expression called through php.  I am not sure but I suspect its to do with the {} in the mysql code and PHP parsing them incorrectly.

Here is my code snippet:

What I want to do is this:

a user types in a word.  I then want to query a dictionary table called dict_list for all matches of the this word up to 11 characters max.

Example:

if $q was the word aero then the response would be all words beginning with aero and up to a max of 11 characters.  That is why IU thought I could calculate length of $q and from this get the $remainder = 11 - strlen($q) then in the REGEXP use .{$remainder} but when testing if I echo out the query $qy the curly braces will not show on screen.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can someone propose a solution to resolve the following:

I have a PHP script that runs just fine when processing small amounts of data (opening and reading CSV file and performing afew validation checks before saving to db).

Issue: when attempting to process a large file, I have found the execution time exceeds the "timeout" value currently set on the server which is 60 seconds.
Note: I do not want to increase this time interval as that's a security risk so need to figure out a way to break up the data - being read from the CSV file - into chunks and some way create mini-processes (I guess) to execute chunks of that data at a time until the entire file is read.

Any suggestions?

This is mind bender. I recently upgraded from a VPS to a Dedicated server. The script is a data mining tool that primarily uses cURL. It worked flawlessy on the the VPS. Because it was the same hosting company everything was migrated and done so smoothly to the new dedicated.

Now, the program hangs for no reason at all. The times vary but I'll usually get about an hour of the script before it hangs. It used to run for hours at a time on the VPS.

While I do see some 'notices' and cURL timeouts - there are no error messages echoed out when the program hangs and there is nothing within the error log on the server to indicate anything in terms of why. The program simply 'freezes'.

I think I've spent the last three days modifying the php.ini file. Here are some settings which may be of interest?

post_max_size = 16M
log_errors = On
max_execution_time = 0; (From what I understand is unlimited).
max_input_time = 0   ;
memory_limit = 128M;

At the top of every page within my script:

set_time_limit(0);
error_reporting(E_ALL);

The dedicated is an 8 gig Linux box running Apache. Speaking of which, here are some settings within WHM for Apache:

Max Clients 500
Max Requests Per Child - 0 (unlimited)
Keep-Alive - On
Keep-Alive Timeout - 50
Max Keep-Alive Requests - Unlimited
Timeout - 1000

Because the script works on another VPS that I have within the same hosting company can someone direct me with what I should be looking for and/or comparing between both servers?
