PHP - Can I Use A Cron Job To Search And Change Part Of A String In Sql?

Hi i need help with some string manipulation and extraction..

I need to extract an id from the above path dynamically.
I need to extract the digits before the alphabet d after the second last  path f39/
In the above case the number extracted would be 745.
Can someone please help me out with it?

Let's say I have a variable called $big_paragraph

I want to display the variable IF it contains the word "hello".  The word may or may not be there AND it could be anywhere in that paragraph (separated by a space before and after it to signify that it is a word).  So I can't use substr since it assumes I know the position.

Hey guys! I found a flush function and it seems to be working well, but sometimes it will cut off characters. It's very strange.

Here's my flush function: function out($str) {

Thinking this should be an easy one but I can only seem to find info on the string replace function.
What I'm trying to do is strip everything after the @ from an email variable.

So for example $mail variable comes in as
me@gmail.com

How would I strip the variable to only contain me and remove the @gmail.com

I'll keep searching for the answer myself but if anyone can throw me a bone it's be appreciated.

I have the following DOM document ( this is a sample document and is "as is", it's 100% intended to look like this ):

I am using a PHP's preg_match() to search through string, and displaying its pattern, but want to display only part of it.

E.g. looks like

The search displays " class='PHPfreaks' "

From the search I would like to display only the part highlighted in bold. " '/shape=\'.*\'/sU' "
So the final value to be displayed should be      " PHPfreaks "

I have several job categories on a recruitment website:

$job_category[0]="accountant";
$job_category[1]="php programming";
$job_category[2]="baseball";

these job categories are contained within the urls imediately after the recruiting company's name and before the word "jobs", so we could have the following urls:

www.url.com/company_name_accountant_jobs
www.url.com/another_company_name_baseball_jobs
www.url.com/yet_another_company_name_php programming_jobs

Using the array $job_categories and the page path after the foward slash (e.g. yet_another_company_name_php programming_jobs) please could you tell me how to strip out the job category and the company name? (I'll extract the page path using a mod_rewrite)

I have created a flashcard program to teach Japanese vocabulary. I want to add sound files from native speakers so I have created a page with a recorder that 1. displays a word (on load) 2. allows the native speaker to record the word (on press of a button) 3. uploads the recording to the server (on press of another button)   I wrote the word display as a separate php script so that I could use Ajax to just change the word being recorded, so that I would not need to reload the entire page every time the speaker switched to a new word.   The js that gets the word to be recorded is:

The problem that I have is that when I get each word I want to change the name of the file being uploaded. It all works and if I reloaded the page each time I could do this:

but I want to stay on the Ajax path. So, I think that I need to convert the newcard program to return json with something like:

echo json_encode($response);

but once I get the json back I don't see how I get the filename into the script that sets the upload url and make that script re-execute. Is there a reasonable way to do that?

i am having the database consists of morethan one lac rows. we have a search option
in our website to search the database for required information. the present code is
like this:

with this some times the output comes in thousands of rows. with which we are facing
problems.


we want to search the two or more fields for getting more precise results.

it worked in the mysql console, and even in our website when we give all the
variables. but it displaying the entire database when we dont give even one field in
the search box. i tried to assign NULL to the variable which was not given. it is
also not worked. it works if any variable is replaced with NULL in the query. i
don't know how to do that.


i tried a lot of queries after searching in lot of code provider websites. but none
of them gave the desired results.hence i request you to provide me a sql query code
for search the database using all of the above fields or any two or even with one.
the code must work independent of number of fields we entered.

Alright, so I have a textarea where users can put in text. Everytime they put [ani] and click submit, I want the output to change [ani] into an html code: <img src="mypic.gif">

Hi, I am trying to search a string for a string of characters in this order ../ and carry out relevant if statements but it returns the same result every time. On echoing my $pos, $pos2, $pos3 and $pos4 variables the first two come back 0 and they are the strings that do contain ../ but the if statements perform the same? I don't understand, any ideas? Hey all,

I'm using the form 'method="get" action="results.php"' on my search form...
Say someone uses my 'Photo search' to search my database for aircraft, and leaves all fields blank. In this case, the only field of the search is 'aircraft'.


This will take the user to 'results.php?aircraft='.

Is there anyway to remove the sting if there is no search value? So it would just read 'results.php'?
