http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=322184.0 Similar TutorialsI have sen this function before but can not remember what it is or how to code it. It allows you remove only defined characters from the end of the string. I am not looking to replace any occurrence anywhere in the phrase, just the end. For example lets say I want to remove"ld!" from phrase "Hello World!" That function would return "Hello Wor" Thanks This topic has been moved to PHP Regex. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=356719.0 How could I split a string in half but not in the middle of a word? $information = "This is the string of text, however at some point in the sentence a word may get split in half."; $cut = round(strlen($information)/2); ///where to cut (50%) $split1 = substr($information, 0, $cut); //first half $split2 = substr($information, $cut); // second half Am looking forward to removing all the numeric characters upto and including the leading "/" in 90/_featuredarticles/2011/12 Regards Hi, Im looking at using a statement like this to remove all text characters from a string. $outgoing = substr_replace($incoming,"",-1); The string is a currency that has a currency symbol in the beginning of the string, like "R500.00" I would like to remove the R, so it is just a numeric value... Please can you help me with any ideas on how to get this going? Been reading so much and its all confused me too badly. Regards, Chris Hi all! I am building a website, and the users can create a pet name. I only want them to be able to use letters, numbers and underscores in the names. How can I do this? Thanks! I would also be using this for the usernames as well. Here is my pet creation code: adopt.php: Code: [Select] <?php session_start(); include("config536.php"); ?>

<?php if(!isset($_SESSION['username'])) { echo "<banner></banner><ubar>Login or Register</ubar>

Error!

You are not Logged In! Please Login or Register to Continue!

Messages

"; } if(isset($_SESSION['username'])) { echo "<banner></banner>
$shownavbar
<ubar>$ubear</ubar>

Adopt a Pet

"; $thedateis = date('F jS, Y'); $getpetid = $_GET['petid']; $adopt = $_POST['submit']; $petname = $_POST['petname']; $petgen = $_POST['gender']; $thebq = "SELECT * FROM pets WHERE petid='$getpetid'"; $theb = mysql_query($thebq); while($prr = mysql_fetch_array($theb)) { $pid = $prr['petid']; $species = $prr['pname']; $number = $prr['number']; } if(!isset($getpetid)) { $pq = "SELECT * FROM pets WHERE petid != '0'"; $p = mysql_query($pq); while($pr = mysql_fetch_array($p)) { $pid = $pr['petid']; $ptype = $pr['pname']; $im = $pr['pimage']; $number = $pr['number']; $limited = $pr['limited']; $types = $pr['types']; echo "$ptype

Number: $number

"; } } if(isset($getpetid)) { ?> <form action="<?php echo "$PHP_SELF"; ?>" method="POST"> Please select a Name:
Pet Gender: FemaleMale

<?php $checkitq = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM userpets WHERE userpetname='$petname'"); $gcheckit = @mysql_num_rows($checkitq); $tq = "SELECT * FROM users WHERE username='$showusername'"; $t = mysql_query($tq); while($rw = mysql_fetch_array($t)) { $grabnum = $rw['pets']; } if(isset($adopt)) { if($grabnum >= "4") { echo "Error! Your pet has been created!"; } } } } ?>
Thanks in advance for the help everyone!! I have a form with some dropdownlist that get populated dynamically(depends on what the user chooses) with jquery and an xml file. In the form I have a button that takes the info and populates another form with the values of the ddl. I have coded script which populates the second form with jquery and the name of each input get dynamically added like so: Code: [Select] > What I want to do is grab the name of the element and remove the underscore and everything else form rileft to right so I am left with just the word before the underscore. I tried using substr($key,0,-28) but that wont work since everything after the underscore will have a different length. I was wondering if there is a way i can keep everything before the underscore and remove the underscore and everything after that. Thanks in advance for any input I get. Hi All, I am working on system where i am storing column names in one table of database. To retrieve value of columns with separation of comma (exp. clol1, col2,col3..). for this i am using one function which i am calling middle of mysql query. but i am not getting fetch result over there. Below is the function i have to fetch column names. Code: [Select] function retrieve_columns() { $brand_id = $_SESSION['SESS_PRODUCT_CODE']; global $columnlist; $columns_query= "Select column_name from columns_list_to_display where brand_id=$brand_id"; $result=mysql_query($columns_query); $row_num=mysql_num_rows($result); $i=0; while ($row = mysql_fetch_array($result)) { $columnlist = ""; $i++; if($i != $row_num) { echo $row['column_name'].", "; } else { echo $row['column_name'].""; } } } I am writting query like as below: Code: [Select] $query = "SELECT " . $columnlist . "FROM $userlead_table LEFT JOIN notes ON $userlead_table.id = notes.leads_id LEFT JOIN lead_status ON $userlead_table.status = lead_status.status_code WHERE ((Date(a.submitted)>='$datefrom' AND Date(a.submitted)<='$dateto')) ORDER BY a.submitted DESC"; Please let me know where i am doing wrong. Hope one of this forum member would have proper solution for it. Thanks in advance. Regards, Jitendra Hello. My client and I are trying to figure out a strange issue with exporting blobs. We are trying to sync a WAMP based databse and local MySQL database. The problem is with blob columns.
The issue: When exporting a blob, the local MySQL dump command inserts an escape character "\" before characters such as NUL, TAB and LF, and I am assuming a lot more. My PHP export function (opens a file, SELECT * FROM tbl, writes to the file) does not do this. The main issue is that my client cannot import my PHP dump files when there are blobs, which I suppose is because they are missing these escape characters. He can however re-import his own MySQL dumps. I know I could remedy by using PHP string replace functions to find each character and insert a '\' before it, but I don't know which characters will need to be escaped. I also feel like there is a more simple solution. For example this is what I have and it worked for a tiny 1 pixel image, but not for something complex: $val = str_replace(chr('NUL'), '\0', $val); $val = str_replace(chr(0x9), chr(0x5c).chr(0x9), $val); $val = str_replace(chr(0xa), chr(0x5c).chr(0xa), $val);Thanks This topic has been moved to Miscellaneous. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=352847.0 This topic has been moved to PHP Regex. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=320682.0 This topic has been moved to HTML Help. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=346623.0 This topic has been moved to PHP Regex. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=328353.0 This topic has been moved to mod_rewrite. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=325974.0 This topic has been moved to PHP Regex. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=351154.0 This topic has been moved to JavaScript Help. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=333509.0 This topic has been moved to PHP Regex. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=313299.0 This topic has been moved to PHP Regex. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=326002.0 This topic has been moved to mod_rewrite. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=307587.0 This topic has been moved to PHP Regex. http://www.phpfreaks.com/forums/index.php?topic=316055.0 |
