I have a class that I created, halfway down my page I call a function from the class which prints some code and also changes a variable inside the class. It's a search class basically it prints out the search results and saves the total amount of results into the variable. I want to display the amount of results above the results like so:- echo $Search->results; $Search->GetResults('foo'); The problem is that $Search->results will be equal to NULL until the variable is updated in the function GetResults. Hope that makes sense, am I going about this wrong? How can I check a variable to see if it is NULL and if so set to 0000-00-00? I've tried: if ($var IS NULL) THEN $var='0000-00-00'; to no avail. Hi guys, the following code gives the parsing error "unexpected T_VARIABLE": Code: [Select] <?php $con = mysql_connect("localhost","XXX", "YYY"); if (!$con) {die('Could not connect: ' . mysql_error("oop"));} mysql_select_db("XXX_testDB") or die(mysql_error()); $counter = 1; $Tcounter = 1; $Tresult = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM NameTable WHERE id = $Tcounter"); $Trow = mysql_fetch_array($Tresult); $result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM "$Trow['NameOfTable']" WHERE id = $counter"); $row = mysql_fetch_array($result); echo $row['TQuestion']; ?> So I have a Table in Mysql that is called 'NameTable'. From that table I am drawing an element in the 1st row under the column of NameOfTable. I want to call another element of another table through the table I described using a variable. Like this: Code: [Select] $result = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM "$Trow['NameOfTable']" WHERE id = $counter"); "$Trow['NameOfTable']": I also tried using single quotes or without and it doesn't work either. What is wrong with this? i have the following array $fruits = array("cherry" => "red", "apple" => "red", "kiwi" => "green", "strawberry" => "red", "pear" => "yellow", "melon" => "green", "grapes" => "green", "watermelon" => "red", "banana" => "yellow") using the array_count_values($fruits) i get Array ( => 4 => 3 [yellow] => 2 ) how can i asign the value of each key to a variable? i have the following array $fruits = array("cherry" => "red", "apple" => "red", "kiwi" => "green", "strawberry" => "red", "pear" => "yellow", "melon" => "green", "grapes" => "green", "watermelon" => "red", "banana" => "yellow") using the array_count_values($fruits) i get Array ( => 4 => 3 [yellow] => 2 ) how can i asign the value of each key to a variable? I am getting this error message: Notice: Undefined variable: folders in /hsphere/local/home/digitaldaylight/herorisingthebook.com/modules/mod_nivoslider/tmpl/default.php on line 15 The code on line 15 is: modNivoSliderHelper::render($params, $folders, $images); ?> How do I redo the code to get rid of the error message. Essentially I tried if code and isset but I am not knowledgible enough in php to fix the problem. And I dont want to change the reporting error sensitivity. Its best to do a fix of the code rather than ignore it. I am wondering if this is posible. I have a group of radio butons. I would like to make them as variables so that I can use an "if then" statment in another part of the page to show an image depending on which button is selected. <form id="form1" name="form1" method="post" action=""> <p> <label> <input type="radio" name="color" value="red" id="color_0" /> red</label> <br /> <label> <input type="radio" name="color" value="blue" id="color_1" /> blue</label> The first page is used to submit data to second page (and also show errors if there are any with the data submitted). The second page should be retrieving the posted data and assigning that data to session should it need to refresh back to the first page to show errors. The session data is used to repopulate the form. Right now I'm typing test into the review_name variable and when the page redirects back to the form to display the error messages, that field is not populated with "test". Ideas on why? i have to pass a variable to so many pages i mean variable post from index.html to page1.php and it has to pass to other pages like page2.php, page3.php and so on, i tried session_start() but i am getting the below error so please tell me how it is possible to Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: Cannot send session cookie - headers already sent by and Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: Cannot send session cache limiter - headers already sent I'm using Session variables for the first time on a site I'm developing. I had it working fine while I was doing some admin and testing in subfolders. But the problem is I'm losing the session variables when I load the page from www.example.com, but it works from www.example.com/index.php. I would be happy to post some code if needed. Hello, I am creating a class which contains one private function that deals with connecting to a SQL Server and executing the sql that is passed in to that function. I have defined a class variable which is assigned the value of sqlsrv_query like so. $this->QueryResult = sqlsrv_query($conn,$sql); I have placed private $QueryResult at the top of my class. The other public methods call this private function to assign the result set to the class variable, the private method returns and then the public methods loop through the results array like so. while($row = sqlsrv_fetch_array($this->QueryResult)) .. but the while loop never gets entered. If I declare everything in the same method then it works, however there are going to be several public methods that will use this private method and I don't want to duplicate all the database coding. Hope someone can help Hi, I'm just starting PHP and I ran into a simple problem (that I can fix), but I just want to understand why my first approach doesn't work. I was testing multiplications and additions and the result I got was unexpected. Here is the code that doesn't work: Code: [Select] <?php $number1 = 5; $number2 = 10; print $number1." multiplied by ".$number2." + 1000 = ".$number1*$number2+1000; ?> Obviously, what I want as a result when I'm displaying the page is: "5 multiplied by 10 + 1000 = 1050" What I get: "1005". That's right, nothing else. On top of getting an erroneous answer, the sentence that's supposed to display right before the equation doesn't display at all. It's even worse if I switch it around like that: Code: [Select] print $number1." multiplied by ".$number2." + 1000 = ".1000+$number1*$number2; I get an error message and nothing displays. The obvious solution works: using a parenthesis at the beginning and at the end of the equation, which I should do regardless, but still, it's bugging me and since I just started learning PHP today, I want to understand how the code is compiled / interpreted so I don't make stupid mistakes like this one. Thanks in advance for the replies. Hi I am using very simple code. Here it is Code: [Select] <?php session_start(); $user = "guest"; $uid = "1"; echo $_SESSION['user']."<br />"; echo $_SESSION['uid']; ?> it displays this error Code: [Select] Notice: Undefined index: user in C:\wamp\www\DealDash\index.php on line 5 Notice: Undefined index: uid in C:\wamp\www\DealDash\index.php on line 6 how can I solve this problem? Help please What I'm want to know is either a better way to write this or find out what I'm doing because its not getting the shortName variable in the anchor tag. Code: [Select] function spotlight(){ $query = " SELECT * FROM characters WHERE characters.statusID = 1 AND characters.styleID = 1 ORDER BY RAND() LIMIT 1"; $result = mysqli_query($dbc, $query); $row = mysqli_fetch_array($result); $shortName = $row[ 'shortName' ]; $labels = array('shortName'); $img = array(); if($handle = opendir('images/spotlight/')) { $count = 0; while (false !== ($file = readdir($handle))) { if(strlen($file) > 2){ $img[$count] = $file; $count++; } } } echo "<a href='bio.php?shortName='" . $shortName . "'><img src='/images/spotlight/".$img[rand(0, (count($img)-1))]."' alt=Spotlight border=0 /></a>"; } Hey Everyone. I've been using a piece of code several times before and its worked fine but now (after updating my php version) I get an error. Heres the code: Code: [Select] if(isset($_GET['id']) == TRUE){ if(is_numeric($_GET['id'])==FALSE) { $error = 1; } if($error == 1){ header("Location: " . $config_basedir); } else{ $validentry = $_GET['id']; } } else{ $validentry = 1; } The line with "if($error == 1){" gets flagged with an error saying: Notice: Undefined variable: error in C:\xampp\htdocs\sites\smd\index.php on line 8 I've used the code before with no problems and uploaded to my web server I also have no errors. What did I do wrong. I hope it isn't a seriously stupid error. Thanks in advance. Hi everybody, im reading up on arrays and im still stuck... Is it possible to assign an array to a variable? I need something like... Code: [Select] &needvariable = $row->User Hopefully this makes sense... I am trying to split a variable only if it has an integer. Here is what I want to do: $id = 1234-54678; should be split into and then placed into two variables: $id1 = 54678; $id2 = 1234; Sometimes the variable may not have a delimiter in which case I would like it to be $id1 example: $id = 54678; should go directly to $id1 = 54678; I am a php rookie and don't know which way is best to do this (explode, split, etc.) so I would appreciate any help you can give me. apparently I am doing this wrong. Thinking this should be an easy one but I can only seem to find info on the string replace function. What I'm trying to do is strip everything after the @ from an email variable. So for example $mail variable comes in as me@gmail.com How would I strip the variable to only contain me and remove the @gmail.com I'll keep searching for the answer myself but if anyone can throw me a bone it's be appreciated. I have tried everything but still the defect persist. What am i doing wrong? and How to correct it? Cheers Natasha Thomas Hello, i have the code below and i need to have all results in a variable as a string, inside the loop they are displayed how i want but outside will echo the last result. Thank You. Code: [Select] foreach($_POST as $key=>$value){ if (is_numeric($value)) { $valoare = "$value,"; } } echo $valoare; I am attempting to us glob to display contents of a users folder using a session variable. Example: I have a session variable called department Code: [Select] $row_fullname['department']; In department I have the name of the department the user belongs to such as: office, plant, maintenance, and groundskeeping I created a folder called docs inside of docs there are 4 subfolders called office, plant, maintenance, and groundskeeping I found this code which will display the contents of the folder: Code: [Select] <?php $files = glob( './docs/office/*.*' ); foreach ( $files as $file ) { echo '<a href="./docs/office/' . basename( $file ) . '"target="_blank">' . basename( $file ) . '</a><br />'; } ?> The above code works fine, but I would like it to only display the contents of a departments folder only if the user is part on that department. Here is an example that I know is completely wrong but it may help explain what I am trying to do. Code: [Select] <?php ]<?php $files = glob( './docs/echo $row_fullname['department'];/*.*' ); foreach ( $files as $file ) { echo '<a href="./docs/echo $row_fullname['department'];/' . basename( $file ) . '"target="_blank">' . basename( $file ) . '</a><br />'; } ?>Thanks for your time Need help declaring some session variable guys. I have a login form where the member enters his 1. Pilot Callsign 2. Password I want to declare that Pilot Callsign as the session variable on authentication. Using that Pilot Callsign session variable, I will fetch data from the database relevant to his profile. I already have the whole login page coded along with the restricted access pages (not coded by me). Check this out 1. Page is coded like this and working PERFECTLY --- Code: [Select] <?php // *** Validate request to login to this site. if (!isset($_SESSION)) { session_start(); } $loginFormAction = $_SERVER['PHP_SELF']; if (isset($_GET['accesscheck'])) { $_SESSION['PrevUrl'] = $_GET['accesscheck']; } if (isset($_POST['pilot_callsign'])) { $loginUsername=$_POST['pilot_callsign']; $password=$_POST['password']; mysql_select_db($database_brn_system, $brn_system); $LoginRS__query=sprintf("SELECT pilot_callsign, password, staff_level, firstname FROM pilots WHERE activated = 1 AND pilot_callsign=%s AND password=%s", GetSQLValueString($loginUsername, "text"), GetSQLValueString($password, "text")); $LoginRS = mysql_query($LoginRS__query, $brn_system) or die(mysql_error()); $loginFoundUser = mysql_num_rows($LoginRS); if ($loginFoundUser) { $loginStrGroup = mysql_result($LoginRS,0,'staff_level'); if (PHP_VERSION >= 5.1) {session_regenerate_id(true);} else {session_regenerate_id();} //declare two session variables and assign them $_SESSION['MM_Username'] = $loginUsername; $_SESSION['MM_UserGroup'] = $loginStrGroup; ?> --- 2. As you can see, there already is a session variable declared for Pilot Callsign But on the next page "Restricted Access Page", when I try to call this same Session Variable, it doesn't work. I tried doing this <?php echo $_SESSION['MM_Username'] ?> Moreover, I even tried to fetch data from the table like this - SELECT * FROM pilots WHERE pilot_callsign=$_SESSION['MM_Username'] Doesn't work Hey all, I'm almost too embarrased to post this as I'm sure it is very simple - but for the life of me I can't get this to work. I am a complete newbie to PHP so please bear with me.. What I'm trying to do is to write a program that will go on to calculate a user's Body Mass Index (BMI) based on user inputted data of height and weight. However, I want to be able to accept heights and weights in a number of different units for maximum ease of use. I am trying to write some PHP code that will handle this , the main goal is to convert everything into 'cm' and 'kg' before going on and doing the simple BMI calculation later on. However I am stuck at this point: I have a text field for users to input their weight into. This is immediately followed by two radio buttons for the user to select which units they are inputting their weight in (kilograms or pounds). A third option to input their weight is given after this for those wishing to input their weight in 'stones and pounds'. My problem is as follows: I can't get my code to recognise which radio button (either 'kg' or 'lbs') has been pressed. What should happen is that my code can tell something has been inputted in the text box AND which of the radio buttons has been selected. From this it does one of the two; for the kilogram option it leaves the value as it is, but if the weight has been inputted in pounds (and the 'lbs' radio button selected) then I want the code to convert this into kilos by multiplying by 0.4535. Here is what I have so far (sorry its a bit messy - like i say I am a newbie): <?php //convert.php $ft = $cm = $inches = $weight = $stones =$pounds = $kilos = $units = ""; if(isset($_POST['cm'])) $cm = sanitizeString($_POST['cm']); if(isset($_POST['ft'])) $ft = sanitizeString($_POST['ft']); if(isset($_POST['inches'])) $inches = sanitizeString($_POST['inches']); if(isset($_POST['weight'])) $weight = sanitizeString($_POST['weight']); if(isset($_POST['stones'])) $stones = sanitizeString($_POST['stones']); if(isset($_POST['pounds'])) $pounds = sanitizeString($_POST['pounds']); if(isset($_POST['kilos'])) $kilos = sanitizeString($_POST['kilos']); if(isset($_POST['units'])) $units = sanitizeString($_POST['units']); if ($ft != '') { $height = intval(($ft * 30.48) + ($inches * 2.54)); $out = "you are $height cm tall"; } elseif($cm != '') { $height = intval($cm); $out = "you are $height cm tall"; } else $out = ""; if ($stones != '') { $kilos = intval((($stones * 14) + $pounds) * 0.45359237); $out2 = "you weigh $kilos Kg"; } elseif($weight != '' AND $units = "kg") { $kilos = $weight; $out2 = "you weigh $kilos Kg"; } elseif($weight != '' AND $units = "lbs") { $kilos = ($weight * 0.45359237); $out2 = "you weigh $kilos Kg"; } else $out2 = ""; echo <<<_END <html><head><title>Height & Weight Converter</title> </head><body><pre> Please enter your details below <b>$out$out2</b> <form method="post" action="convert.php"> Height: <input type="text" name="cm" size="3"> cm OR <input type="text" name="ft" size="1">ft <input type="text" name="inches" size="2">inches Weight: <input type="text" name="weight" size="4" /> Kg<input type="radio" name="units" value="kg" /> lbs<input type="radio" name="units" value="lbs" /> OR <input type="text" name="stones" size="2">stone <input type="text" name="pounds" size="2">pounds <input type="submit" value="Submit" /> </form></pre></body></html> _END; function sanitizeString($var) { $var = stripslashes($var); $var = htmlentities($var); $var = strip_tags($var); return $var; } ?> hi all, I have an language pack for example: languages/en.php: Code: [Select] $en['mail']['letter closing'] = "regards,\n your friend!"; and in my config: Code: [Select] $language = "en"; $include_language = @include("languages/".$language.".php"); if(!($include_language)) { $try_default_language = @include("languages/nl.php"); if(!($try_default_language)) { echo "kan de taalpakket niet vinden<br>"; echo "Could not find the language pack.<br>"; echo "example on error: ".$test." shows nothing"; exit; } } In my function I want to include the language pack for example i have $language = 'en' so I want to include $en['general']['letter closing'] I will do this: Code: [Select] global $language,${$language}['general']; But that gives an error unexpected '[' blah blah. How can i call the variable variable array in the valid php way? I have a simple form that edits student information. I have several fields that I have a drop down list pulled as an array from a separate table. I would like the information that is already entered on the student to be the default but still have the drop down list available if the item was entered in error. For example: Drop down list of all the states of America, OH was entered for the student, when the edit form comes up for State in Address I would like OH to be the default but still have the list to choose if OH was entered in error. I have tried selected = $selected but then the entire drop down changed to OH. I am very, very much a beginner in this <?php // list of possible modules comes from database $state_array=get_states(); //display as a drop down list for end user to choose if (!is_array($state_array)) { echo "<p>No States are currently available<p>"; return; } foreach ($state_array as $row) { echo "<option value=\"".($row['stateid'])."\""; // if existing state, put in current catgory echo "<strong> ".($row['stateid'])."</strong><br />"; echo "<option select=\"selected\">OH"; } ?> i have a small search profile search and need to set $getuname variable to users username if((trim($country) !== ''&&($state) !== ''&&($city) !== '')){ $data = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM users WHERE users.state='$state' AND users.country='$Country' AND users.city='$city' ORDER BY RAND() DESC LIMIT 1 "); Echo "Country city state search"; $getuname = mysql_real_escape_string($_GET['username']); am i meant to use the get or is that only for forms? Okay so after echoing awardType it says Match which would mean it would go to the else part of the statement but it doesn't. It still shows the dropdown for the characters and don't know why? I wanted to take those values($ufav) and explode them into separate values where I could then take action on them. For this I ran an explode() then a foreach loop grabbing the exploded values where i queried the database multiple times in order to grab all of the information related to the comma separated values. From there I put the information into a variable and then echoed it out into the page where I required this entire value. Everytime I run this code I get this error: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_VARIABLE in /home/content/11/7370211/html/sites/searchapartmentsonline/development/includes/user/fav.php on line 3 Which is this line of code: Code: [Select] $ifav = explode(","$ufav); This has to be simple and has driven absolutely nuts because I can't figure out for the life of me why this code is returning this error. I have a page with a javascript game where the player moves around on a map. They have an X and Y coordinate, but I'm having a problem. The problem is I need to store that info in a database, and I'm having trouble learning AJAX. Heres a little list of things: Play loads the game. A php variable is taken from a database. The player goes to those X and Y coordinates. The player may move around. Once they move, the player is sent to a php page that updates the Database information. The page is refreshed to the game again, where they may then move around some more. The problem is, when the page is changed the values are lost. For some reasons cookies aren't working at all (like just not working for anything, even a completely different file.) I heard something about using $_GET or $_POST, but I dont see how... problem is when i select unpaid in drop down box it not show the expected result. Background of the problem: Im keeping the contents of a page in a database, so each page would be a template, and the body text will be stored in the database. So if i want to call up the contents for my 'About' page, i would use the php command: "<?php getAboutPosts(); ?>" The code behind that will be: function getAboutPosts() { $query = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM posts WHERE id = '20' ") or die (mysql_error()); while($subm = mysql_fetch_assoc($query)) { echo "<h2>" . $subm['Title'] . " by iVisual Media" . "</h2>"; echo $subm['Content']; } } My Actual Problem The text does echo fine, but it is completely unstructured, I.E. it isn't paragraphed, i cant include any type of tag like <b> because it doesn't seem to echo them, although when i check PHPMyAdmin it has all the tags saved in with the content? Example: I have this saved in MySQL Database: <h4>We are a professional website and graphic design business in Basildon, Essex, providing online marketing strategies for companies throughout the UK.</h4> <p><br /> Whether you require a brochure website, blog or a full e-commerce solution, Imagine Design Studio can help. Maybe you have a new business and want to create an online presence or an established business looking to pull your company into the 21st century.</p> <p> But when it echos, i get this: We are a professional website and graphic design business in Basildon, Essex, providing online marketing strategies for companies throughout the UK. The code I'm using is as follows: variable: $web=mysql_result($result,$i,"web"); html/php code: <td><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><a href="<? echo "$web"; ?>">Website</a></font></td> What it should do is have the clickable word Website with the correct url from the database. Instead it's repeating the website the page is on. For example it's doing this: http://mywebsite/www.enteredwebsite.com Any help is appreciated. trying to post a link to the database Code: [Select] $amessage ="<a href="link.php">this is a link </a>"; then return that link later on another page. Its just that on my webpage Nothing is outputted and only this one notice error appears. heres my join: Code: [Select] <?php $colname_Test = "-1"; if (isset($_GET['recordID'])) { $colname_Test = (get_magic_quotes_gpc()) ? $_GET['recordID'] : addslashes($_GET['recordID']); } mysql_select_db($database_swb, $swb); $query_Test = sprintf("SELECT s.ShipID, s.FleetName, f.FleetName, f.PlanetName, p.PlanetName, p.PlayerName FROM Ships s LEFT JOIN Fleet f ON (s.FleetName = f.FleetName) LEFT JOIN Planet p ON (f.PlanetName = p.PlanetName) WHERE s.ShipID = '$colname_Ship'"); $Test = mysql_query($query_Test, $swb) or die(mysql_error()); $totalRows_Test = mysql_num_rows($Test); ?> echo $row_Test['PlanetName']; ?> Heres how my tables connect: ShipID (FleetName) ---> FleetName (PlanetName) ---> PlanetName, so im trying to detemine the fleet and planet the ship is on. Any ideas why its not working?? Thanks I am currently using a javascript to redirect the page using a select tag and the onchange property. Each page calls a different function. I want to be able to pass the <select> value to a variable that I can use within a php condition statement on the same page. This will generate the required output based on the <select> value. This way I dont require a seperate page for each query. So onchange.... $select_value == this.value? Then within my page: Code: [Select] if ($select_value == 'alpha') { get_query_alpha(); } if ($select_value == 'bravo') { get_query_bravo(); } This is my current set up... Code: [Select] <p>Order by: <select name="query" id="query" onchange="gotourl(this.value)"> <option value="query1.php" >Sort by A</option> <option value="query2.php" >Sort by B</option> <option value="query3.php" >Sort by C</option> <option value="query4.php" >Sort by D</option> </select></p> <table> <?php get_query_1();?> </table> and js... Code: [Select] function gotourl(url){ window.location= url; } function selectsubject(){ alert("Please select a subject!"); } Is there a simple way to do this? Thanks. I have an HTML form with a Dropdown list off dates. The Dropdown is populated using PHP and an array... Code: [Select] <?php $concertDates = array('201105071'=>'May 7, 2011 (9:00am - 12:00pm)', '201105072'=>'May 7, 2011 (1:00pm - 4:00pm)', '201105141'=>'May 14, 2011 (9:00am - 12:00pm)'); ?> When my HTML form is re-submitted to itself, what happens to $concertDates?? I was under the impression that it remains alive as long as my script is running... Debbie Undefined variable: return line 38 that line is : echo $return; Below is a look at my full code. Code: [Select] <?php class cms { var $host; var $username; var $password; var $db; function connect() { $con = mysql_connect($this->host, $this->username, $this->password) or die(mysql_error()); mysql_select_db($this->db, $con) or die(mysql_error()); } function get_content($id = ''){ if($id !=""): $id = mysql_real_escape_string($id); $sql = "SELECT * FROM cms_content WHERE id = '$id'"; $return = '<a href="index.php">Go Back?</a>'; else: $sql = "SELECT * FROM cms_content ORDER BY id DESC"; endif; $res = mysql_query($sql) or die(mysql_error()); if(mysql_num_rows($res) != 0): while($row = mysql_fetch_assoc($res)) { echo '<h1><a href="index.php?id=' . $row['id'] .'">' . $row['title'] .'</a></h1>'; echo '<p>' . $row['body'] . '</p>'; } else: echo '<p> Sorry! This Page doesn\'t exist!</p>'; endif; echo $return; } }//Ends our class ?> |
